I have several 8 ft T12 lights in my two buildings for a total of 44 single pin bulbs and 4 double pin HO bulbs. The magnetic ballasts hum, more light is always better.

I looked into replacing the fixtures with tandem t8s, but I really don't feel like replacing all the fixtures. I am intrigued by the ballast bypass LED replacement bulbs, but the only ones I have found are from companies I never heard of. They may be big in the light bulb world, but I don't know. I don't want to install a bunch of junk in the shop. Does anyone have positive experience with a direct 8 ft t12 LED replacement?

Thanks,
Joe

I too have never seen 8 foot conversions. The single pin ones are also I think non convertible.
IMHO, you will end up replacing all of your fixtures in order to take advantage of LED technology. Sorry.

ther hyperikon I purchased came with the tombstones.

I actually rigged up my own wiring harness with a plug on the end since my shop is very ghetto right now. I use spring clips to hold them on the ceiling. also makes for quick easy drop light if I need to just grab one.

They are $44. They have 5280 lumens with a clear cover. We do not stock the frosted cover due to the fact it cuts the lumens down. CREE chips and Bridgelux drivers. 5 year 100% no questions asked replacement warranty.

I prefer the frosted lens. its a lot easier on the eyes when you are laying on the floor looking up.

They just installed a ton of the clear lens ones at work. That area sux to work in.

LEDs need to have good diffusers on them or you'll get several shadows fanning out from each tube. Each little LED in the strip/tube will cast it's own shadow.

I can get them in frosted cover if that is what you prefer. Most of what I do is 14-20' ceiling height so the clear lens doesn't bother as much.

I replaced all twelve of the single pin 8' flourescent tubes in my shop with conversion LED tubes from eledlights.com. They supply a wiring diagram for bypassing the ballasts. The drivers for the LED's are inside the tubes. You supply switched 120VAC to the tubes. I bought the 5500K color temp tubes because I like daylight type light in my shop, but they offer cooler color temps. The LED's are a lot brighter.
