Reversible (non-flex) metric ratcheting combo wrench sets:

- Matco S7GRRCM12 12 piece 72 tooth - $260
- Matco S9GRRCM12 12 piece 90 tooth - $490
- Snap On SOXRRM710 10 piece dual 80 flank drive plus - $?? ? (Website not working, maybe $500 or so)

First of all, what’s the difference between the two Matco wrench sets and why is one twice the cost?

Any thoughts on what wrench set is the best?

The Snap On set is kind of appealing since it seems like the heads are similar in quality to their ratchet heads. Is the ratchet head too big?

If the Snap On wrenches work well I’d be inclined to get a USA made Snap On set versus the Matco imported $490 set.

But for the money is that $260 Matco set good? Edit: compared to Harbor Freight set, I thought the icon set was $200 but it’s actually $150.

The Snap-on are really good, but the price is on the high side. The ratchet head is not too big.

The ICON set from Harbor Freight is hard to beat for the cost, especially if they come out with another ICON coupon.

There are good Euro options in that price range also, particularly in metric.

What would you consider? I saw there’s a Stahlwille imported set that’s probably up there with Icon and Matco for not a bad pride ($100 if I recall).

The ICON set is made by high-five and incredibly good for the price (under 100bucks new on eBay) .
Matco is complete waste of money .
Snapon for a good deal acceptable if likely be using them for couple decades professionally and get value of service and warranty which you paying big for .

Snapon is clever in being servicable but the bulk of the head due to this (screw fixings) does limit use a bit in tighter situation .
Best euro ones are Facom USAG or MAC which all same design, the stahlwille are Kabo and not great to be honest, ICON actually better ...
ICON set is actually a gem (mainly as long pattern and aboveaverage quality plus currently easy warranty) , the anti-slip open ends not great performers but the high-five anti-slip is better than Infar design and you can buy standard open end set if want .

I have the ICON in SAE, great set and priced right. If they do another coupon I'll pick up the metric.

That Snap on set you want looks to be discontinued, but Ebay has a set sealed for $319.00. Snap on offers a 7 piece set 10-17 skips 16 for over 300.00.

Yeah snapon SOXRRM710 is likely 300+ range .
they nice as flank drive is indeed superb and ratchet is clever but bit bulky .
If you already have some flank drive then it not a great buy but if don't or just want usa then it not the worst choice as product is exceptional and one of those lines that not a complete snapon ******, although the ICOn ratchet ring and long pattern do the job fine and have easy warranty for 3rd the cost (eBay)

I'm also looking for a ratcheting wrench set. How does the Proto JSCVM-14SA compare to Icon and others mentioned?

I would prefer USA-made and compact head size.

It nice design and decent coverage as think it 14pc set, main thing I didn't like was spline which tend be a let down from my experience.
They around the 300buck price tag .

I have Facom 467s, and love them. USAG is the same parent company and sometimes has the same stuff at a better price. Gedore, Hazet, and Stahlwille are other traditional favorites.

www.amazon.de is a go-to place for me
www.tbs-aachen.com has good Hazet sales
www.misterworker.com is a good UK site

Example: Facom 467 12 pc metric on Mister Worker
a similar USAG set

IMO Hazet and Stahlwille are every bit as good as Snap On. They are not ratcheting, but I prefer Hazet 606s and Stahlwille 14s to any (non ratcheting) combo wrench SO makes. I do prefer SO line wrenches and DBEs.
