Who makes a quality triple square set? I was looking at a Cornwell and a MAC set. These are not super common and I would like a set that I can depend not to break leaving me with a half finished job.

I have the VIM, Mac and Matco sets. Like them all. We are talking the 12 point tools, right??

You mean a combination square set?

The only combination square I have ever heard of is a type of carpenter's square.

Anyway, to answer the OP. I have a Blue-Point set that has been doing pretty well for me, no complaints at all. Triple squares are pretty strong just by their design, so I think as long as you're not going with the cheapest **** you can find, you'll be all good  If you want top quality I have often heard that Hazet makes very high quality triple squares (German tools for your German car!)

Add me to the list of needing triple squares. I have spline drives oddly enough, but no triple square. My dad has a set I use when I work on his bus at his house, but its not a complete set anymore and we need a few other sizes now. I am not even sure what brand they are. I might look into matco, but they would be equiv to KD or gearwrench I would guess. Maybe even snap on since its easier to warranty. The few sizes we are missing broke and were never replaced.

I have Mac stubby set and VIM long set. I've broken 2 or 3 of the Mac's, the VIM's seem a lot stronger and better quality.

Ah, all the current sets in blow mold cases are essentially 1:1 copies of VIM sets. I don't think they ever had any triple square sockets made in the USA, at least not made in house (they do make some of their own hex/torx sockets).

Good to know that the VIM set is the one to have. I've been meaning to pick up a set for mk2 VW for a while.

They could be VIM's, not sure, but in any case, the one piece sockets are pretty fragile.

These are the ones I have. Never had an issue with them. Cheap enough, they are throw-away tools in my opinion.

Neiko XZN 10-peice set in blue case

If/when they break, I will be replacing with VIM Tools version. If you are on a budget, you may want to consider the Neiko set.

I have several from Hazet, and a few other misc ones from stahlwille, blue point etc. all of those seem good. Those long black Lisle ones are garbage.
