Hey mike93lx. What is sire? Haven't heard that term. Anyway, I plan to build two 3'-ish doors with the LP overlapping in the middle as a 'stop' if you will. I'm a little gun shy because I built a door and tried to install it before plumbing the studs and leveling the header. I failed to copy the original doors well enough I guess. Ruined a $48 sheet of LP plus some 4" LP trim. Ouch!
Site, sorry.

Wasting material *****, but it's part of learning. You'll get it

Have you looked at buying doors?

Last summer I found a set of like new takeoff slabs for $150. Had to build the jambs, but it saved me a ton of time and you'd need a ram to rip them off.

Bonus the solid core exterior doors shouldn't warp.

Here are a few pics of what I'm doing. In the first picture you can see how the original doors were constructed. I know, I should be able to copy the doors. Not sure why it's getting the best of me.

The next pic shows the opening I cut for the new doors.

Third pic is of the level header and plumb studs (Jack and King), not the other studs to the right. Oh, on the ground is the goofed up door.

No, I didn't think of take offs. I'm pretty set on building them at this point. Good thought though.

^^^thats a screwy way to make doors, looks like they were trying to seal to the sheathing.

Typically I've done them as the 2x4 frame, (3.5" deep). Plywood and trim should be flush to the edges of the 2x4. This then sits inside your frame.

I hang site built shed doors like this:

1. Cut a 2x4- 3" less than width of door opening.
2. Temp fasten it ,level, at bottom of opening, about 3/16" above floor level.
2A. EDIT- Measure your opening. Subtract 7/16" from the width. Make your doors to these dimensions.
3. Fasten 1st pc of trim on either door jamb.
4. Stand the 1st door up on the 2x4 you cut. Have the hinges already installed on door.
5. Fasten hinges to trim.
6. Stand 2nd door on the 2x4. Ensure center gap between doors is 3/16-1/4". Ok to have gap slightly larger at top.
7. Slip the next pc trim on the jamb, under the door hinges. Set the gap on it. Fasten to shed.
8. Fasten hinges on 2nd door to trim.
9.Pull doors open. Remove 2x4.
10. Install doorstop on inside of opening.
11. Build your ramp.

Pic below is of 8'H x 9'W doors installed as above.SUSAN%20PHONE%206SEP2018%20697.jpeg

OK. If you say so. I can usually do or fix anything, it just takes me longer.

What has me confused at the moment is getting the overhang of the LP siding figured out. It has to be pretty simple. Can you give me any tips on whether the siding should overhang each door on the sides that have the hinges? I plan to leave about 1/4" space on the left and right of the doors where they meet the jack studs. Sound right? I appreciate your help.
