I bought the tools shown in the picture about and paid more than I should have, damn people and making so look like a god, hahahaha. Seriously, I paid for less the web price for the th737 but the one I got as shown in the pictures from the auction, has the crome coming off the top on both sides where the top swivels... Will snap on replace it? The crome is peeled and chipped off on both sides. Also the comfort grip is beat up, what if I cut it off what would it look like underneath? Also can you get a new grip as a part? Thanks for you help as I am new to this site and will post some pictures and get advice on a starter box that I am working on.

If the chrome is peeled not worn off then it is a warranty item then, if your finger nail catchs the chrome when you slide it across it.

How do you remove the grip and I am not sure how to take it off with out cutting it, and where do you get parts off the snap on site?

Snapon.com lists a head rebuild kit but I don't see a replacement "rubber ducky" handle for it; contact your local snapon dealer or you might contact Snapon.

I sent the customer service an e-mail to see if I can send it in and get it replaced and not have to worry about messing around with someone on the truck. But thanks for the help, that should also take care of the grip problem looking a little beat up.

Keep us posted on what they do for you and how you did it. I haven't gotten Snap-On corporate to do much for me aside from the time I took a cracked ratchet to a local distribution center; they swapped out the ratchet no questions asked. Otherwise, they keep telling me to go to my dealer (who always seems refuses my warranty claims!) :)

Here is what they said-

Hello Michael,

Thank you for contacting Snap-on tools. The tool(s) would need to be replaced/repaired by a local franchisee /sales office. Field evaluation must be done on the item(s) to determine the warranty. I've also provided a link below for you to view our warranty policy.

I am not saying this is a lot of trouble, but all I want to do is to be able to go somewhere where I don't feel like I have to bother someone and feel like I need to buy something... I am looking for a short 3/8 stubby ratchet and a t handle ratcheting screwdriver, but that is a lot of money for the average guy like me... If you think I should call I can see what I can do, any ideas? I like sears and even more proto, I have just sent them trashed and broked proto professional tools and got new ones sent to my house, and they also replaced my dads 40 year old husky tools for free as stanley now owns them, and no questions asked and didn't want the old tools back either.

Your response from Snap-On is the same form letter that I have gotten as a response from emailing the corporate site. This is also the main issue about Snap-on you are at the mercy of your local dealer, with the distribution/service model that they have historically decided to stick with. Some here have called Snap-On or contacted the regional manager with good results (I have never done this); when I lived in northern california there was a corporate distribution center and that was the best service I have ever gotten; broken tools swapped with brand new replacements with no questions asked. Maybe others can come up with successful strategies is getting things warranted. Hell, if somebody on this board would be able to get some of my stuff warranted I would send them my stuff and make it worth their while somehow! Snap-On is like my Volkswagen; I love the product but just hate their service and support!

Just box it up and send it in; that's what I did with a MAC ratchet, but I surgically removed the handle first. The guys at MAC corporate must've been in total bewilderment because their handles are designed to not ever come off. :D

Amazing, one time my local distribution center screwed me too! (no longer there) I took a 1/2 flex head I bought new in because the casting of the head broke (no abuse, Never did figure out how it happened, no it was not loaned etc) Anyway, my dad took it in and the bastards charged him $5.00 to exchange it for another! Yeah right excellent warranty my ***! I can tell you true poor warranty stories on SO all day long! They BLOW! :pimpflash

I was at a friends shop one day. The Snap guy came in and was tryiing to sell him a set of line wrenches. So my buddy says let me try one walks over to a KW at the side and starts to try it. Wrench breaks, Snappy guy starts hollering you abused it!

He actually threatened to take my buddy to court.

Your buddy tried the wrench on a KW and broke the wrench; what's a KW?

He put it on the line fitting. Pushed to turn the fitting loose and the wrench snapped. He was standing there looking at this broken brand new Snap on wrench, while the driver is going ballistic screaming abuse.

All he did was walk over, find a fitting that was handy, Then he put it on and pushed to see how it did and felt.

Odd indeed... it seems like part of this story is missing somewhere. I've never seen a wrench just break by pushing on it - especially on a line fitting!

picture of the tool, I was talking about let me know if you think the tool looks bad enough to get replaced the chrome is off on the tip on both sides where the swivel piece is held on. Also I wanted some advice on what to get for a starter box? Should I post pictures of what I have on this link and see what you think? Let me know, thanks.

The picture is unclear. Check to see if your digital camera has a macro mode and try again. The macro mode is typically only accessible via a button or menu, but does wonders for the clarity of up close shots...

As far as a box goes get what you can afford. This is the formula I use, and it more times than not will match your tool storage needs.

I've noticed allot of people don't know what they have; this can be a benefit to you (if you knowledgeable, take advantage of their ignorance) or be a problem if you are not able to figure out the situation before you get the item. Most people are just out there to make money on what they have and aren't educated on everything they sell. I usually ask questions and try to get model #'s and more info before I bid. Sometimes you can come out ahead and sometimes not, welcome to eBay!

That is chrome peel!!! Your nail will catch that. My dealer told me if your nail will catch on the chipped chrome then it is a warranty deal.
