Question for MaxJax owners

I have a question for MaxJax owners.

Have any of you noticed any limitations in what you can do due to the limited lift height? I am thinking about problems with working under the vehicle, for example replacing exhaust, working on the differential, bottom end of the engine, etc..

While I realize that being able to lift the vehicle 42" is better than laying on your back under jack stands I am just concerned if anybody has had second thoughts about the MaxJax.

Thanks

Rick

I have a MaxJax and have done some exhaust work and some other stuff. The only real issue is the lack of lift accessories like stands and jacks for this height lift. I have a few of the Greg Smith tripod stands to hold things up and they work great. I have no regrets at all as I only have 9' ceiling. I am planning on doing a clutch on my C6 Corvette which requires dropping the rear craddle, diff, ******, tourque tube. I see no issues getting this done with the MaxJax other than needing to get a lift table and/or ****** jack that is the right height. Overall I am very happy with my lift.

Regarding the Corvette clutch job.
Couldn't you lower the car and remove the last couple of bolts and them just lift the car back up off the cradle? Kind of a reverse way to do it ......

Greg Smith Stands.....
See Post No. 20 Here for photos.

There are 4 bolts that hold the rear craddle on and no way to access them if the car is lowered. There is no clearance on that car. Some people have done it on jack stands and used an atv lift to hold the craddle. A lift table would work like a champ for this. There are some shops that use 2 tables and drop the whole drivetrain. Here is a writeup of a guy who did it on jack stands. Not fun!

I have my maxjax for almost a year. Only one regret. Not having it bought it before !
I use it almost every time I do something in my cars. Everything is easier.
I would make sure the floor is perfect under the lift in order to use the rolling seat. If possible I would do a multiple anchors setting in order to have multiple widths for the columns. Also look at my posting about improvements to the maxjax.

I had the same concern. I'm tall too, 6'5. I bought the 6" extensions giving me 52" total lift and a good stool with casters. No complaints.

I have a question for MaxJax owners.

op: i don't think you can get better clearance with an 8' ceiling with any other lift. think about scissor lifts, you can't get anything out from under it - basically only good for wheel work. /.02cents

Here you go, Jose. Corrected for the Northern Hemisphere.

That's a good looking car. And it seems you do a lot of work in your shop.

Actually ceiling heighth is not a major issue for me since this is new construction, my limititation is width. I am limited to 28' wide and am concerned up taking up 12 to 13 feet of that with a fixed lift. My assumption is that with a MaxJAx I would have more flexibility.

Rick, 28' is actually spacious, especially if you don't need to fill up the space with cars. The good thing about Maxjax is that it is not obtrusive (see photo below) and in a worst case can be wheeled away.
