I'm just curious as to anyone that had to haul in compactable fill or stone to their site to build on. I know it's different by area and location and how far they had to haul. But I'm curious what you brought in and how much. I'm looking at 180 cubic yards as we need to take a bunch of **** soil off the top.
Thanks all.

I filled the inside of my garage as much as 3' deep on one side with bank run. It doesn't drain real well, which in my case doesn't matter, but when it's compacted it's like concrete.

For my new garage, I removed 3 feet of topsoil and had 85 yards of silty gravel hauled in and compacted in 12" lifts. A loaded 10-yard dumptruck didn't leave tire marks.
My brother had 140 loads of 20-yard enddumps brought in, levelled and "compacted" with a dozer and sank a full concrete mixer truck to its axles.

I had to fill my entire excavation hole about a foot. We used 1-1/2" minus to the amount of 43 yards, compacted in 3"-4" lifts. Every lift was compacted 6 directions N,S,E,W, and both X directions. We poured 40 plus yards of concrete in a mono pour with 6" thick slab. Do not forget to put down a thick vapor barrier bfore you pour, keep your slab dry.

Just started on my shop. My dirt guy removed all the top soil, and it took 11 loads of clay, at 8 yards per truck load, to replace the top soil. Then he started to haul in 30 more loads to raise the building pad. After bringing in 5 loads, he spreads with the dozer and then would compact with his dump truck. The low corner was "out" about 30" from the high corner. It took 328 yards of clay and right now it is hard as a rock! I wanted to run some string lines, and took a piece of 1/4" round rod to stick in the ground to attach the string to, I could not push the rod into the ground.....had to hammer it in. Clay is what he used to build his dam, and therefor it should keep the water out if there is any. Very happy with it so far.

Dug off the top soil down to clay added 6" of grade 8 (CA6) aka road pack and had compacted. Put 6" of concrete over that. This was well beyond what was required for the four post lifts.
