I don't know if compressed air is needed for dry cleaning, to blast the powder right? but you would think it needs to be no oil to avoid contamination
Well, "Zeke" could be right but personally, I don't really think the air-compressor is loud because it is made in China, I think it is loud because oil-less compressors tend to be louder simply because of the way they are designed. I tend to think they would be louder no matter where they are made.
The only value of a oil less compressor is to place it in a cemetery to raise the dead. People buy them because they are cheap, or ignorant, ignorance is not the same as being stupid, BTW.
A compressor with a cast iron pump will be the quietest, cast aluminum, & oil less, much more noisy, the problem is if you want a portable unit, cast iron is not helpful.
i live under a dry cleaners and this machine is extremely loud every morning, does anyone know a way to make it quieter ?
If that compressor (the HF one) was in a business in CA, it would be illegal because it requires a permit to operate a air pressure tank, & it would not be approved.

Also to be fair, the compressor appears to be missing its intake silencer/filter assembly. Those direct-drive compressors absolutely roar without the intake muffler.
