Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread, but I'm really courious as to why the Kaeser compressors are not legal in Canada?
Not sure what can be accomplished by using a larger pump and spinning it slower...
Most compressor noise comes from the inlet.
Take off the small, useless, filter and plumb in a small car muffler.
If you run a dusty shop, plumb in a small car air filter.
It will be about as noisy as a small car.

I have a 2 gallon cman that takes oil. It's not always about oil/oilless. More direct drive vs. in direct drive ( belt or no belt ). That thing is loud as hell.
My old Champion 2 stage cast iron pumps were much quieter. I had an IR 2 stage 80gal. It was louder than champion. The pitch was lower on the champion and it was not as obnoxious.
