Quincy 325 Compressor Oil Leak

I've got a Quincy 325 that I rebuilt. It is working great. However, I realized I have a small oil leak around the crankshaft. It is between the crankcase and part 8/1 in the diagram below. There is no gasket shown on the parts diagram, just shims. I did not take this apart during the rebuild because the bearings were good and I did not want to have to reset the end play. I have the Quincy rebuild manual and it doesn't say anything about sealant being applied to these shims which makes sense because it would defeat the purpose of shims. What is the deal? It is not a bad leak and I am thinking about just living with it.

If you are in doubt, check the crank end play and record the number. Then remove the end cover, clean and use sealer on the shims, then recheck the end play. I doubt light smears of oil resistant sealer will affect it much. If so, remove a shim.

Parts book shows part # 7 (3/8-16 x3/4") torque at 30 ft.-lbs.
I would try loosening all 4, then retorquing them in a diagonal pattern (10:00-4:00-8:00-2:00) and see if that cures the leak.
If not, use a thin sealant like 'GASKET CINCH' between all shims after cleaning them of any oil.

Thanks to the people that responded to this thread. I tried the suggestion to loosen and retighten the bolts and it didn't work. I ended up pulling the flywheel, cleaning everything up, and using gasket shellac (Indian Head). When I pulled it apart it looked like that is what was used previously. It was just between the bearing cover and shim pack, and shim pack and crankcase. I did the same when I put it back together and seems to be fixed.
