Looks like Quincy changed their website and took the parts manuals offline. At least I couldn't find them. Didn't have any 340 manuals downloaded.
Here's a link to a 340 manual ROC 106 that might be of general help

Also private message me, I have a helpful technical contact at Quincy.
I completely rebuilt a 325 last year. He was very helpful with advise.

Mine has a loud knock, it tuned out to be both the HP wrist pin and rod bushing.

Yes. I plan to do a full rebuild. As mentioned some ding dong cut *all* of the copper lines out.

I'd suspect it was stolen because of that but the guy gave me a bundle of copper lines to "fix" it with. I won't be using them but if he were trying to scrap copper he wouldn't be giving it away.

On that note, does anyone know the right tubing here and what type of flare I need?

Nathan
!/4 & 3/8" soft copper tube is fine. Pick it up at HD or Ace hardware.
Here are pics of the plumbing on my 325
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi all,

Starting a fresh thread for this. I brought this home for $250 today. The owner brought it home from work but realized he was in over his head with 3 phase power etc. Time will tell if I did good or flushed two and a half big ones down the toilet. These compressors have been hard to find locally so I took a gamble on this one.

Tank is 120 gallons. Looks good from the outside. Couldn't get any of the inspection ports or bungs off to have a look at the inside.

The good:

Looks to have been used indoors. Very little surface rust.

Pump isn't overly dirty, and has signs of previous service, so hopefully it was reasonably cared for before it was retired and sold on and then resold to me. The oil in it wasn't super great but I've seen worse.

The bad:

1. Something is definitely loose in the bottom end. As it turns over there's a "clunk" once a revolution. I took off the inspection plate and there's nothing broken inside, so I'm hopeful it's fixable.

2. When it was moved, some bozo cut all the unloader copper lines. I'll need to buy/make replacements.

3. The motor on it is a 575v fixed voltage unit. Not usable.

At $250 I was willing to roll the dice. This thread will either become a cautionary tale or a nice rebuild log. Maybe both. 🤣

Cheers,
Nathan

I just got this Quincy 340 5 horsepower 3 phase it came from a building somewhere around Grissom Air Force Base in Indiana?? He thought it was used for painting?? Does anybody have any idea of how this is supposed to work looks like to me there's a switch on the front that circulates air from the tank back through what I believe is a desiccant dryer?? Any information would be greatly appreciated and I can post more pictures if you like.

If you don’t have three faze at your garage I think I would’ve walked away. That is a big compressor pump to run on a 220 electric motor. You might be able to get by on 440 if you have it in your garage. On 220 the motor will draw way to much current under load and probably burn up in not much run time. I hope I’m wrong.

If it's running off a 5 horse now it'll be fine with a 5 horse single phase motor. I'd be curious what the pulley sizes are because I have a similar one and would love to run it nice and slow on a 5. 10 horsepower single phase are common on the farm.

I'm really trying to find out what the extra tanks are for? I think it has to do with drying the air?

In picture three the line comes out of the tank and is routed into the cylinder with what looks like a moisture filter inline? Looks like an auto-drain at the bottom of the tank with the wires? Air is discharged on the right side of the head, goes down and under the tank and into an auto-drain and up to the tank with the box mounted to it. Can't see after that other than the line going into the other end of the tank.
