Great job on the heat ,I have radient floor heat in my shop and house............I live in south half of Vermont so we have about the same weather........you can play with settings until you are happy but remember radient takes a long time to heat all the "masses " in the space so I find unless you are not going to be useing the shop for an extendered time [a week or so] than SET IT AND FORGET IT...........both ups and down ude more enegry in my opinion......enjoy.......bobbycoke

Dwysywd,
One possible cause for the water heater is it isn't getting enough flow to stay on, I know I've had that issue in the past when my filter plugs. Something to look into at least.

Spot on! So it wasn't that there wasn't enough flow... There was TOO MUCH flow. I was circulating 8 gal per min and the unit calls for 3.2 gal per min as the MAX gpm. That's when I realized I could dial down the water flow and it would slow my gpm. So it's working now. I am Looking at the taco circulation pump to see if I can slow the water flow. But for now it seems to be working. I will keep you updated. I have a few "finished" photos to post. But the water temp was running 150 degree-ish and that's gonna be sufficient for my needs.
Next part is to figure out if my 110v water heater can be run off solar or not. I have a commercial Webasto 12v to 110v inverter. I want to see if I can collect and run enough power off grid to run the unit.

That is great news, what are your thoughts on the overall feeling of the in floor heat?
Thanks,
JB
Go with the spray foam you will not regret it. On average my shop stays 10+ degrees warmer than the outside temp.

I do not see a "Drip Leg / Sendiment Trap" on the fuel/gas line, also a fuel shut off valve within six feet of the device.
Both possibly code requirements and fire Insurance requirements .
Got to keep the toys insured.![]()

I have my fingers crossed you can get it figured out, I'm sure it is very frustrating. Is it at least keeping the place warm for you?
JB
OK, question. Have you tried playing with the temperature setting on the water heater? Just a reach but you never know.

A note for your pump - you need to re-mount that with the pump axis of rotation horizontal not vertical. That pump won't last mounted in that orientation. It's in the design notes somewhere.
Your fluid flow is horizontal, but your motor shaft is vertical.Ok, what am I missing, that is horizontal, liquid passes from left to right, last time I checked, that's horizontal. The whole reason it's mounted that way is because the notes say horizontal. So help me understand how mounting the whole pump vertically means horizontal? I don't understand.
