Mine Not much to look at on the outside but gets the job done on the inside. Once I finish my house the plan is to add on.

First time I visited my neighbors garage after I bought my house the conversation went:

Me: Damn, you have a chassis plate in your garage???

Neighbor: Doesn't everyone?

Our effort was a while back, but thought I'd help pad the thread!! We'll be getting back into it at the end of the year. Woo-hoo!

It's a 1971 Datsun 240Z shell, 280Z motor, 5 speed, with poly-bushings & a 10pt cage.

I'm in the process of building a new garage to maintain and race two limited mods . The inside is still unfinished and we have yet to move in any equipment or tools. everything is currently on hold while I recover from surgery on my arm. I hope to be back racing and working on the shop in a couple of months.

only pic i can find from our sponsors (then) brand new 40x60 shop.
reassembling the truck after a complete teardown, sandblasting, painting, replumbing, rewiring, rewelding and "every nut and bolt" overhaul.
after the seaosn started we moved the truck to the drivers garage that was much closer to home for both of us, since we spent many long hours in the garage working between race weekends
2nd pic taken @ crandon raceway in '00, crewchiefs and crew that supported a sportsman stock, and sportsman 2 CORR short course off road trucks.

Our shop is in a 15'x20' room in the house. It would be nice to have more space but it works pretty good. It's fairly organized, so it's easy to get things done. I'm in here about 10-15 hours a week during race season.

short course is a lot of fun, watching the pro 2 & pro 4 trucks is an amazing sight. small block screaming at high RPM , 750hp on pump gas through a single carb is awesome.
some of the engineering is amazing.
one of the greatest things,(for me at least) was to literally rub elbows with some of the biggest names in off road racing.
the pits were open, spectators were free to walk down rows of pro haulers, talk to drivers and crews, then parked right across from them you might see a one man buggy racer.

one big downfall is the cost of even building a sporstman divison stock truck,
even with a base truck as a "gift", it was easy to drop $20k-$30k to make it race ready and competitive. add in travel expenses, tires, broken & damaged parts, a spare everything, hauler and tow vehicle. we budgeted $10k/ season for operating expenses. it never seemed like enough. :wtf:
the last race we went to, we had enough money for fuel in the tow rig, hot dogs, and
the driver rolled the truck end over end several times on sunday morning in practice ended with a mangled mess, and no parts, or time to swap out the twisted i beam, bent spindle, and broken cage . :(

Need more info on the Dakota!

lots of mods. 470 stroker big block, firewall moved back 6", 8-3/4" rear with 32 x 14 slicks, front tires moved in board 2" to allow the drop, 12 point roll cage, all glass in tack. runs 6.40s in the full 1/8th with mid 1.30 sixty foot. The only thing I didn't do was the paint and body. Heck, I can't afford to pay someone to do it. LOL!

Case yes we race with SCCA and intend to run some select Pro2000 events this coming season. We generally visit Elkhart Lake a few times each season. The Runoffs are at RA again this September. If you enjoy sports car racing this is a great event. 24 races over 3 days and probably ~600 cars.

My race garage is nothing more than what in my sig. I got to make a couple of passes last year after destroying my block and T5 a few years ago. I generally run True Street class in the NMRA/NMCA when I do race.
