short course is a lot of fun, watching the pro 2 & pro 4 trucks is an amazing sight. small block screaming at high RPM , 750hp on pump gas through a single carb is awesome.
some of the engineering is amazing.
one of the greatest things,(for me at least) was to literally rub elbows with some of the biggest names in off road racing.
the pits were open, spectators were free to walk down rows of pro haulers, talk to drivers and crews, then parked right across from them you might see a one man buggy racer.
one big downfall is the cost of even building a sporstman divison stock truck,
even with a base truck as a "gift", it was easy to drop $20k-$30k to make it race ready and competitive. add in travel expenses, tires, broken & damaged parts, a spare everything, hauler and tow vehicle. we budgeted $10k/ season for operating expenses. it never seemed like enough.

the last race we went to, we had enough money for fuel in the tow rig, hot dogs, and

the driver rolled the truck end over end several times on sunday morning in practice ended with a mangled mess, and no parts, or time to swap out the twisted i beam, bent spindle, and broken cage .
