No worries about the felt holding water and mildew if you get caught out in the rain? A friend has race deck that he uses under his daily driver (Sequoia) and he claims it mildewed badly even without felt below and has a serious funk.

I wouldn't mind the noise, but smell and mildew would be a deal breaker. I daily drive my FR-S in everything but 4+ inches of snow, so the meltoff or rain runoff would end up under my panels.

Ummm... First year with my FreeFlow flooring here in NJ. One daily driver, one stay at home vehicle. Worst winter in recent history. I have the garden cloth under mine. No issues with mold, odor, or anything else. Now there is plenty of daily activity in the garage, doors opening and closing, etc, so plenty of air flow.

Like I said, this is just what I've heard from people that live nearby me. Maybe he has poor slope to his garage floor and it pooled or something.

FWIW, I just finished laying down the Racedeck tiles in my "Bike Barn". The main tiles, that is - I still need to do a few unique cuttings around the edge to clear trim, etc. It went down quickly and easily and looks MUCH better than the bare cement. Here's a video of me covering the floor in 60 seconds without moving everything out of the garage (not recommended):

Still have to finish up with some cuts and baseboard today, but the install went well.
I don't know if the underlayment did anything really, but there is no clacky sound.
To be honest, after having hard bare concrete for four years its a weird feeling walking on it, the sound and feel are going to take some getting used to.

Will post the sequence when done and cars are back in...:)

Wow, what a pain it looks to be installing with the stuff in!

The overall effort is probably no more than if you cleared the garage before starting - you still have to move stuff out of the way and then bring it back. But the ability to work on the flooring without having to deal with the moving at the same time would probably make it worthwhile to break the job down to clearing-flooring-restoring. Rain, snow, etc., might prevent that in many areas though.

I agree, I'd rather move stuff around inside as the flooring is placed, rather than emptying out the building. That's one of the main aspects for me with respect to choosing a finished flooring system.
