Planning on getting some RD for my garage floor looking into both FreeFlow and or Solid tiles. Question is for members who have or had RD . Which tile would be better for garage where there will be snow , salt, water and other debris will get on floor.
My thinking is

Free Flow any snow and water should dry up quicker do to air flow might be more difficult to clean up dirt/ debris. Yes / No ?

Solid not much snow or water should get under solid tile and debris cleaned up easily. Yes / No ?

Which tiles would you think would be best concerning snow and water ?

Please post pictures of your design and color combo's !

Thanks in advance for reply’s. Dave

Free flow is what you want. It should dry faster as it has more air exposed. With that said, I used free flow where cars are and solid elsewhere.

I'm battling the same decision but for different reasons. The solid is probably best for me based on use and cost but I like the look of the freeflow so it is a tough choice.

Hi Nutty. Any chance you could post pics of your whole garage?

You can always also use both solid and FreeFlow styles in your garage floor. Thanks for considering RaceDeck... Happy New Year

1 Am I correct very little water would get thru solid tiles from seams/joints?

2 Do you recommend using fabric weed barrier between tiles and concrete floor,(solid or free flow) when dealing with garage where there will be snow from DD. Concerned fabric would hold moisture.

I have both in my garage, 2 bays of free flow for the daily use vehicles. The water and snow drip right through and can generally walk around in socks and dont get them wet. The 3rd bay is solid and it's where my hot rod gets parked and worked on. If you work on cars a lot, I would advise against the free flow. It's not the most comfortable to lay on, and good luck finding small fasteners when you drop them. My jack stands have also beat up the free flow portion, I have to put something under them so they dont sink in to the ribs.

Which do you feel look better?

Which do you think are easier to keep clean?

Pics?

For high snow and water the Free Flow to TrueLock HD Flow-through tiles are awesome. Very easy to clean. Shop vac right through it. TONS of customer photos here: https://www.garageflooringllc.com/category/garage-floor-tile/

Good point above from @Blue XJ for laying on. It isn't as comfortable for sure however I'm using a lift so it isn't a concern for me most of the time. Small parts falling through could be a concern, but I have never dropped anything that small working on cars. I have dropped small stuff when working on a pinball machine in there though!

I was leaning towards flow thru but after seeing both samples in person I may go with solid. I'm not really concerned about jackstands (use wood), snow, or small parts. I think the solid and flow thru both look good but the solid seems easy to clean and may fit me better.

As far as dropping small parts on the Free Flow, I've found that a small magnet and/or a hemostat will fish out anything that I've dropped.
Your choice should fit your intended use and whatever look pleasers you. Good luck kram71. Let us see the finished floor. CJDave.

I have a magnet on a extendable rod to be a lifesaver at times when I drop things even without tiles but I think it would be perfect for flow thru tiles.

Thanks Dave. I know the tile. I know the colors. Just have to finalize the pattern. :)
