Thanks for sending me this link! Amazingly, although I had heard you allude to your drain and flooring solution, I have never read this particular thread.

The EPDM is a clever idea. It sorta contains the mess for you. Very clever. The drain is also classic Woody.... very well designed. Far more work than I would be willing to do :)

Thanks J..apparently I should have (and was considering) a trench drain that runs down the entire shop. I'll likely do this on the next garage...

The ePDM certainly contains the mess, and in the summer pretty much eliminates plastic tile slip on the bare concrete.

Just updating this for any future google searches. The white EPDM product I'm using is a laminate product...which likely explains it's tolerance for vehicle "fluids". It was sourced from Brock White a commercial supplier with a local presence: http://firestonebp.ca/roofing/epdm-roofing-systems/ecowhite-epdm/

RubberGard™ EcoWhite EPDM Membrane is a bi-laminate, white-on-black cured membrane that can be used in conjunction with the comprehensive RubberGard™ EcoWhite EPDM line of accessories for rapid, consistent and cost-effective fully-adhered installations. It is available for UL- and FM-rated systems, exceeds ASTM D 4637 standards and is eligible for a 20 and 30 year Firestone Red Shield™ Warranty.

Here's an update as it's Spring of 2018 (so about 2 1/2) years since installation of the parking pad.

Some comments on the RaceDeck floor and the drain pad:

1. The EPDM has no leaks and is holding up very well, despite exposure to oil, brake fluid etc. I just finished "unzipping" the floor into two sections so I could pull one half over the other, vacuum up the snow/sand/salt melt and sawdust. A dust deputy hooked to the shop vac works well, providing the floor is dry, and will pretty much fill up a 5 gallon pail for the once a year cleaning.

2. The floor is holding up well, but I have found that loading up my low rise hoist stands definitely damages the tiles (the legs have no pads), as does a rolling floor jack if loaded up. A 3/4" plywood base works great to stop this as you'll see in the pic below.

3. The four yellow reference tiles have proven really useful with the hoist to both centre and balance vehicles on the lift.

This is the floor as of yesterday. I normally would run a mop over to clean the RaceDeck after pulling the floor and vacuuming the crud, but I had some vehicle work to do...so will do this later. The tiles are holding up very well despite seeing a lot of use.
