Hi- I am very interested in using the racedeck diamond for my 1000sf garage. I have two pits in one of the bays that a lift will sit in. Is there a way to tie in the tiles to the pit? It would require some tiles sitting vertical and someone connecting to the ones sitting on the regular garage floor. Also, what do people do for the concrete lip around the border of the garage (dont know the name for it) when using tiles?

Thanks

If I’m understanding you, you 1) would not want tiles on edge vertically nor would you be able to keep them there OR attach to any horizontal tiles above or below it. That’s just not possible with RD. 2) you could just line the bottom of the pit, trench, recess whatever you wanna call it and call it good. 3) you probably don’t even need it in the bottom of the pit if the lift will fill the pit, trench, recess whatever you wanna call it.

Is this just a shallow pit say, 4-6” for a typical scissor lift type lift? If so, I would not bother tiling it, see #3 above. If it’s a deep pit like you can walk in under a vehicle, see #2 above.

Oh and if by concrete lip you mean where the walls are built, you do nothing. See #1 above. My first RD garage, I just painted the ledge and “curb” a color close to a tile color. In my case, I chose grey.

I am confused. How do you put a lift inside a pit?

I think he means it’s a recessed area in the garage floor so the lift is flush with the floor. Many people do it so the lift is able to be driven over and hidden in the floor.

You might shim the lifts so that the tables are flush with the Racedeck & paint the tables a color matching the Racedeck. Or, you could shim the lifts to match bare floor height & put the Racedeck over the tables. Remove those tiles when you use the lifts.
