I've been following the thread for a while now and am just getting around to posting in it. Awesome work so far. It's truly something to show off.
If I may pick your brain for some opinion answers, I would greatly appreciate it.
I recently just bought my first new car (15 Subaru Crosstrek) with a leather interior and want to get off on the right foot with products for detailing it and keeping the car in great shape. Additionally, my girlfriends car (09 Civic) has seen some rougher days but I would like to try to get it as nice as possible now that we are in a house that we can keep our cars in the garage.
I've noticed you've got quite a bit of Griot's products around in your garage and am specifically looking at them as they have a location in the Indianapolis region that would be convenient for me to pick up product.
Where I get lost is which products I should get and what ones to avoid. I would rather spend money once and get what I need to get this project going rather than continually need something else or find out that I was off base in my purchase. Would I be wrong to look at their car care kits? Or would you recommend individually piecing together a kit? If so, which products?
I appreciate any feedback or advice you can provide!

Rick, I just received this and was thinking how am I going to mount it. So I strolled through your thread again.... Command mounting strips....why didn't I think of that! Glad I came to the right place.

What can I say, I am a genius. I will pass the credit along to EMC2, he was the one who gave me the idea. You got that sign from the dude who insists on using my photos, eh? Supporting the enemy! J/K.

Well, it took some time, but I finally made it through all 71 pages. It was worth it. I am amazed at the attention to detail you have and your space is quite phenomenal. With all of the Craftsman gear you have, you should be the Sears poster-boy or get some sort of advertising kickback from them.
Question: Hey, where'd you get those rods you hang your cleaning supplies on?

From one Audi lover to another, you have great tastes in cars and the paint, decor and gear in your garage will be an inspiration to me for my shop that I hope to get started soon.
I love the SQ5. Being an avant lover with a family, it's the perfect combo of sport and utility. I'm looking at the Q5 as my next car, but have two teenagers that will be driving soon. So, that may be a while. I too have 20" Peelers on my C6 A6, but they are on all year round since our winters aren't very harsh in OK.

I'm flattered you would take the time to read the entire thread. And, yes, you can get the rods at your local IKEA! I'm happy that you find what I have done inspirational for your project. I see you started a thread and I will be sure to follow your progress.
I'm a huge Q5/SQ5 fan. Like you say, nice combination of sport and utility. Although, my most recent camping trip taught me that I do need a roof storage box.

COOL video! Very interesting. I have a question, so you did not use the extractor on the carpets it looks like. And is that a steam machine you used on the seats and the engine bay?

Hey Kyle. I opted not to use the hot water extractor. Instead, the shampooing of the carpet enabled me to leave those gorgeous lines with my vacuum. Yes, that is my Mytee Firebird steamer I've owned for a while. Recently, I've been using it a lot more. Great tool to pulverize hard stains and sticky messes. Thanks for viewing.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to view my most recent video and it's great to hear your thoughts. All of this is helping me plan out the most epic of videos which will document the big detail I have in store for my SQ5 at some point in the very near future.
I don't really use the steam on the electronic instrument panel, it was more for the vents. As dramatic as the steam looks in the video, it is actually quite dry. Sounds weird to say, but there is way more liquid when you use a conventional detailing spray. I am really liking the various uses for my steamer.

Seems reasonable, had not thought about how much moisture comes from using sprays.
Your a heck of a friend to devote that much time to this, and he is trusting. Nice job.

Have you considered installing a Murphy bed and running a Bed-and-breakfast on the side ?- I think you would have plenty of takers.
Anyway a great read and now that kids are asleep I'm going to audit my detailing supplies

Questions: Would using a shop vac on it's blower setting work as a blow dryer? What is the stuff you used on the tires (@ 8:10)

Thanks for the subscription. Yes, my car is pretty damn spoiled. As for the shop vac blower, it is an option. I would say the Metro vastly outperforms your typical vac/leaf blower. Much more maneuverable, the air is heated and filtered, and it blasts like a son of a gun. I love the tool immensely. I use Stoner's "More Shine" on tires. I have a few other "fancier" tire dressings, but this one is quick and effective.

The dare worked. I put her on the lift for the first time today to look over the brakes and clean out the skid plates.
No way can I approach your skill level, but Grünnie (short for Grünnhilde) is happier.

There were some minor drawbacks, but all in all, I had a great experience with my Optima. I recorded some of my observations in this blog post.
