Hi there - thanks to Rick's method my free flow looks great and really wasn't bad to pull out at all. Was a nice little chore on a sunny afternoon. Really love my free flow and it has stayed better looking longer than the old solid version RD tiles I had. Good luck and post pics!

Rick- how do you clean and dry your pads? It always take mine a few days to dry. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I hear what you are saying, Jeremy. The foam pads can retain a lot of water and for a long time. I use my handy Ikea laundry rack because it allows the water to drip off the pad instead of just saturating the bottom. Even still, it can take a day or two until they are completely dry. That's why I buy so many!

I use a old box fan flipped so it's blowing down and put the pads on top. That seems to help. I wonder if taking a wet/ dry shop vac to the pads and pulling the water out would work.

Also do you wash your drying towels with any other towels?

I know you did a review on a 3" griot DA a while back for the small spaces. have you made any changes or upgraded? Do you have any recommendations for something that might be even smaller to fit into harder to get to spots?

After washing my pads with Chemical Guys pad cleaner, I rinse them several times and then re-mount them on the buffer. With it set at its highest speed I rest the buffer on the side of a bucket. Takes about 30 seconds to spin them almost dry. Before bagging the pads I let them air dry overnight.

Grit Guard sells a pad cleaner but it's overkill for me:

Hey, sorry for the long delay in responding to your question about the door spring. May and June have been brutally busy at work for me. Good news is, I am off for six weeks starting in one hour!

Yeah, the right side spring snapped a while back. I had a 24-hour crew come out and they bailed on me (funny story kind of) and then the original company that installed and manufactured the door came out and replaced it with no issues at all. Because the wood door is so heavy the springs are quite beefy and had to be custom made. Things are back to normal now.

I'm between a Rupes 21ES Mark II and a Flex 3401, what are your thoughts? I will be picking up the iBrid however, as that is such a useful tool.

I'm using your garage as a "helper" on how I organize mine! Great work!

Haha! Yeah, I have been feeling guilty for not updating this thread. I have my current SQ5 sold, but awaiting final payment from purchaser, and i take delivery of my new SQ5 mid-September so I have been obsessing over that. I have detailed a few friends' cars this summer, but my summer vacation comes to an end as of next week. Once my new ride arrives, I will be sure to take some photos and share here.

It has been a very busy month in my garage. On September 11, I took possession of my 2018 Audi SQ5. I opted to have the dealer do nothing to prepare the car besides take off the majority of the wrap. Yes, I became aware the photos I sent to QuickJack would be used in various online advertisement campaigns. They have used quite a bit on the QuickJack Facebook page as well as their actual website. It was a bit of quid pro quo thing.

Thanks. I bought it less than a month prior to winter arriving, and winter seems to have finally left us, so I'm really looking forward to spoiling it. I have some Youtube stuff planned for the coming spring and summer months.

I like the feel of the Rupes over the Flex, but they are both high quality machines. It's like trying to choose between an Audi and a BMW.

Yes, it was quite a thrill to see Jalopnik picked up on one of my detailing videos. I got a kick out of the comments from the Jalopnik users. They are quite a "know-it-all bunch over there. Regardless, I've been having fun doing select details and making videos of the process. It was also cool that Audi retweeted the article.
