It can help a little with cooling. I believe it needs to be spaced away from the exterior sheathing, like across interior face of studs or under roof rafters. That may be your plan - wasn't sure.

I suspect normal insulation would do more but not sure.

If the sun hits the wall and the radiant barrier has an air space it will reduce the heat load tremendously.

As mentioned, it's not insulation but serves a different purpose.

Here's what the US Dept of Energy says, and I don't find much contradicting it.

"Some studies show that radiant barriers can reduce cooling costs 5% to 10% when used in a warm, sunny climate. The reduced heat gain may even allow for a smaller air conditioning system. In cool climates, however, it's usually more cost-effective to install more thermal insulation than to add a radiant barrier."

I put something similar to that in the attic of the house, I didn't notice anything different as far as temps or energy usage but your mileage may vary.

I put radiant barrier in our attic when we lived in the Houston area. I checked the attic temperature for several sunny days before and after the installation. Attic temps dropped by 15-20 degrees F.

I've seen where people staple it between the studs with a 1-2" gap from the outside wall, then put pink panther fiberglass insulation behind it so it backs up against the drywall. Personally, I used the foil bubble version of this barrier in my garage. It's separate from my house, so I just used it between the outside stucco and the drywall. With an exhaust fan on a temp controller near the ceiling, I can be inside with the doors closed on a summer day and not sweat.

I just took down my radiant barrier and I’m doing spray foam.

Id sell you this if you want. I have approximately 400 feet X 4’ wide roofing foil radiant barrier available.
It is foil on one side and white fabric on the other.
I would say 90% is in approximately 35 foot lengths with the rest being anywhere from 20 to 25 foot lengths and a couple of odd and end lengths after that.

I’m in Central Fl. Let Me know.
