Astro's tools are warrantied for 1 yr. Mayhew Pro tools have a lifetime warranty.
I'm curious where people are reading this.
We have many tools, including the 9409A pliers, that are lifetime.

As far as replacement parts, the only reason you would find Astro parts online is someone trying to make a profit after calling us up and ordering them. If you called in for a replacement 9409A cable assembly, the cost would be about $4.50. But just PM me your address and I'll send one out.

That's good to hear. Just as an FYI, I got it from the "Warranty" link on your site:
http://www.astrotools.com/index.php/warranty

Astro Pneumatic Tool Co. warrants our products to the original user against defective material or workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of first use.

I did just notice that it does say in the warranty exceptions section below that:

Hose Clamp Plier: Lifetime warranty on handles only. Cable, lever, & other consumables can be purchased separately.

That looks to be the only place that a lifetime warranty is mentioned on your warranty page, and it says it only applies to the handles of the hose clamp pliers. If you do "have many tools, including the 9409A pliers, that are lifetime", then perhaps that page is due for an update.

I'll give you a PM about that cable. Thanks.

I use worm gear because I can't find constant tension clamps in my area. I've found them online if I buy in bulk, but I can't find much for ones and twos.

That may be exactly where people are getting it from.
1 year warranties require exceptions and time frames, so those details have to be posted on the website. The hose clamp pliers happen to be an exception item because they are coded different for the cable than the pliers.

Fair enough, someone navigating to our page may think those are the only types we offer.

The clamps for my Oldsmobile came from NAPA (about ten years ago.) They'll sell you onesies-twosies. The price is higher than buying in bulk. I see 37 part numbers at https://www.napaonline.com/en/searc...Interchange=true&referer=search_form-allprod; prices starting at $5 for heater-hose size, and going up to ~$20 for the big ones.

All of you that "like" unshielded worm-gear clamps...so did I until I saw what they were doing to my hoses, AND realized that I had alternatives. I won't put an unshielded worm-gear clamp on a rubber hose any more. (I still use them to hold heat shields onto mufflers or starter solenoids, though.)

My own preference has been to use the worm drive and, since I have had much to do with boats, to get only ones marked "All Stainless." I have not had any problems except that very cheap ones can blow completely apart.

Many years ago it was taught that the spring type used as original equipment did not hold and should eventually be replaced (even if this was not true). Also there was no tool that made replacement as easy as the new ones.

Of course for authentic restoration, use whatever was original.

I've been burned by this. For marine use, I look for "All 300 Stainless". Otherwise it'll use a 400 series worm.
