Guys, I'm looking for a radio receiver, but all I keep finding are receivers for what look like a 70s home "stack".

I am looking for something that could be mounted to the wall(or in the wall for flush mount) and the ability to run 4 speakers.

Am I really asking for that much?

I keep finding flush mount head units for RVs, but I obviously need 120v

Is this what you mean by seventies stack? It can run four speakers. Got mine(Pioneer SX 780) for $15 at a garage sale. only needed the controls "rinsed out" to perform flawlessly.

I don’t think you can find one that would fit in your wall due to size and over heating. Check out crutchfield.com I buy all my Home theater, pool equipment there. I bought my garage speakers there too, receiver in the house gets upgraded every few years, so the old one goes to the garage. The have great prices on current and a year or two old brand new w/manufacturer’s warranty. Their customer service and advisors are awesome and you have a no questions asked 60 day return policy. Buy, listen to it and if you don’t like it send it back for exchange or full refund. Good luck.

They used to make home intercom units for installation in the wall. The master unit had a radio receiver so you could play music in different rooms of your home. Maybe find one in a junk(antique) shop

Why not get a Bluetooth receiver and an amp if you must use your existing speakers? or just a Bluetooth Speaker.

The RV units can run off a PC power supply that you can get for almost nothing.

120V to 12V transformers are cheap. I know a lot of guys using car stereos in their shop with a transformer.

Other than not mounting flush to your wall what's wrong with an old stereo receiver? That's what I use with an Mp3 player with a 32Gb memory card plugged into the auxiliary input and my old Bose 301's. The neighbors said it sounds great LOL.

Today, Jensen makes a Wall Mountable CD System with Digital AM/FM Stereo Receiver and Remote Control

You can buy it at home depot for about $50.

For "in the wall" recievers, google RV stereos....

The closest form I can think about would be a rack mount receiver/amplifier with a wall mount system. This wouldn't be much different than a regular receiver/amplifier on a shelf though.

I would think making connections with an in-wall system would be a PITA.

yeah, it is a brand new garage, trying to keep up with technology a lil bit

Do you just want AM/FM ? CD ? MP3 ? Remote control ? What exactly are your requirements ?

AM/FM works for me. No need for anything fancy, just trying to stay less cluttered.

Why not get a Bluetooth receiver and an amp if you must use your existing speakers? or just a Bluetooth Speaker.

My garage is 4800 sq/ft with 3 separate rooms, I am looking for about 4 speakers to have sound everywhere without it being obnoxiously loud.
All new building so nothing existing

The RV units can run off a PC power supply that you can get for almost nothing.

A friend of mine just suggested that. I'm going to have to look into that

I am also going to need some sort of exterior antenna to get signal since the entire building is tin

Repurposed car radios have been rocking garages for generations. The oldest ones I remember used a battery charger and a car battery for power.

I just built a small in-wall cubby for a standard home stereo receiver. Works great. Granted, this won't work real well if you don't have room behind the wall.

Wall-mounted? As in something flat to mount on a wall? I'd probably just get a $100 or so basic Sherwood/Sony am/FM receiver from Best Buy. You can listen to the radio or plug in a small CD player to listen to CDs. Also, you can connect your smartphone via a 2.5mm cable to listen to Pandora's internet radio.

Some pricier receivers will have Pandora built-in. To be honest, I'd get a smart speaker. I like Google Home Mini's and have 2, but they make more powerful ones with better speakers.

"hey Google, play blue oyster cult station", and it will play BOC and similar artists.

It's more then just a transformer, you would need a 12V DC power supply that has enough current to power your 12V car/RV stereo.
