I waited until the last day and got mine for $75ea. I don't think I'd pay more, but everyone has their price.

I've just been buying small parts bins at garage sales for less than $10 each. The RS would be nice to have but not for more than $25 IMO, because there are other choices

The cheapest they get in the stores around me is on the last day or two, they cut the $175 price in half, to $87.50.

Once they hit $87.50, they are all gone. They never get a chance to go lower.

The last store closing near me on 03/31 still has the $175 price. If/when they cut in half, I might buy two. But in my area, once they hit $87.50 they are gone. Someone comes in and buys all of them in a single purchase.

I wish I could have bought any of them, but the local stores shutting down had sold them at the full $175 original price. Only a couple of stores in the entire region were shut down, so no deals.

I expect we'll have a second and third round of stores shutting down, so at some point these cabinets will flood the market.

Your choice, is your choice. My choice is MY choice. Money is more dear to me when I can get something that does the same thing, store small parts for less money.

I just went and checked them out in my loca store. They were marked at $150 each or $700 for 8 cabinets. They are not very high quality. Worse than HF IMO.

HF doesn't make parts bins.

I realize that. The radio Shack parts been drawers are very light weight and much flimsier than the common HF tool box. Just trying to use something that people can use as a reference. Two of them also had significant issues sliding in and out so watch the condition. I should've added that a guy bought all 8 for the $700 when I was there.

I got a couple of these and the quality really isn't that bad. Maybe Harbor Freight will see all the buzz about these cabinets and start making something similar, you never know!

I wonder if a thread has ever started where a squabble did not break out.

When people spend more money to store small parts than they spent on the parts themselves, then they need to reevaluate their priorities.

If they choose to do that, their choice is their choice I guess.

I was gonna buy one today, but the lady told me that they weren't allowed to sell them until the very last day even though the sign said Everything Must Go. I guess they had some stuff still in the drawers that they wanted to clear out.

Well that pretty much just avoided the question totally... I was not being a smart *** and thought maybe you knew of somethig similar for the $25 you said you paid for YOUR choice but with that reply I am guessing not...

Well considering I have one drawer that probably has $150 worth of saw blades and grinding wheelsin it I dont really think thats the case. If you dont have $50 worth of stuff in that many drawers I think you need to reevaluate what you need storage for worthless **** for...

BLUE72CAMARO; Good for you! That's YOUR CHOICE! Sheeesh. Is that really necessary?

For my choice you only needed to read my previous post #6 (above). That's the one that got you started on this idiotic rant of yours.

On the side of my garage, I have an 8' long storage cabinet I picked up on CL for $200 that has 48 hand dovetailed pine drawers (about half with wooden dividers).
I use this for materials storage, so of the drawers in my garage, this has the LEAST cost density (compared to tool storage). Off the top of my head, many of the drawers have less than $50 worth of materials. Several have screws (and nuts, bolts, etc). One has strips and sheets of rubber, and another has o-rings. One has gasket materials. One has masonry anchors and nails, and another has staples. One has washers. Not expensive, but certainly not worthless **** either.

The drawer with the tiny screws brads and rivets probably meets your $50 threshold. As might the drawer with adhesives, and the ones with stainless and bronze hardware, one with screw eyes (a lot), and another with brass plumbing fittings. The one with carbide masonry drill bits easily does.

I bought three of the RS cabinets. One is in the house, and my wife has filled it. The two in the garage are still empty. I haven't had a chance to work out how they're going to be used yet.

I agree, that most of the drawers on mine will probably not have $50 worth per drawer either but with 7 drawers per unit you cant fill them almost anything and not have $7 worth of stuff in each drawer. Which was kc-steves point that the cabinets were costing more than the contents.

So, I thought I'd post up a picture of this workbench that I made using four of the drawers that I picked up. It's pretty cool and I'm in it for ~$350 ($200 for the bins, $75 steel, $60 casters, $15 top), which seems reasonable for an 8' long bench/el-cheapo toolbox.

I picked up another set of bins from a different store that were white and am going to make another. The white bins weigh almost twice as much as the grey bins and are much more rigid. I don't think the drawer slides are any better, but I though some of you might find it interesting that there are two kinds. Maybe there will be another round of store closings. If so, scope out the white bins!

They are still asking $350 each for them around here. The manager says the company won't tell them exactly when they will close the stores; maybe so people won't wait until the last days to get the best prices.

If you really have to have these cabinets, I suggest buying them before they are gone. I scoped out our local store for a few weeks before they closed. At first they were $175 for 7 drawer sections. After about a week before they closed they told me they'd sell me 14 drawers for $175. I was prepared to make that purchase with about 3 days left so I did not miss out on them. They told me they would sell them to me but if I could call back tomorrow and talk to the manager, he may have a better deal since the manager makes commission on them. They marked the 14 drawers as sold and I called the manager the next morning and asked what he would need for 28 drawers and the rolling base they are on. He told me $200 and they are mine. I picked them up that afternoon. Moral of the story is to not just settle for what they tell you. The manager has wiggle room and makes money off of the sale so in the final days, you can get a better price if they are still available. Good luck!

In general, the remaining stores will not be closing. They were sold to be operated under a joint venture with Sprint.

They hit Craigslist almost immediately for $250+ for each section in my area. They aren't actually selling at those prices though.
