Raising Garage Door 2'

After months of putting it off, I broke down and ordered a MaxJax yesterday. It's already shipped :) I am looking forward to not wrenching on my back anymore. I'm not getting any younger.

Background: Garage door is standard new home construction 16'x7', Wayne Dalton, with Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster torque springs. Garage ceiling height is 13'. There are garage storage racks 24" about the current door tracks that I want to keep.

I'd like to raise the tracks the 24" to get them directly under the garage racks. That would be enough height so I could open the door with either the E36 or E46 all the way up on the MaxJax.

Any thoughts on the easiest way to do this. Most of what I can find on-line are really dealing with conventional spring doors, not this TorqueMaster style.

Thanks!

Glenn

Thanks for the reply. I've looked at that section before, as that web-site seems to be the most common one to come up in Google Searches. Their answer appears to be simply to throw away the TorqueMaster components and start over. I'm hoping that's not the least cost solution.

Since the lift is only a MaxJax, the door will clear the lift when the lift is down. I can just lower the lift if I happen to want to open the door all the way, but that isn't the ideal option obviously.

I had the TorqueMaster and had to change to conventional torsion tube and springs to lift my door higher. Just can't do it with the TorqueMaster.

Anything preventing me from just inclining the track and the opener at bit to gain additional height? I get that an inclined track would require more opening force from the operator than a horizontal track.

I inclined mine just home-made style, but cutting off part of the curve. I like the look of the straight up conversions, and in your case you could at least consider sending the door straight up without having to move your storage rack. That may be more geometry than you want to get into, and expense. You can incline the tracks for free.
