I remember a thread about a guy that made ramps out of 2x4s laying their side.

I have searched and searched but cannot find the thread. Anyone remember it?

I remember it, but can not remember who posted it. It may have been several years back, as I occasionally go back and look through the posts on page 1000 or so

I've seen them in 2x10. What about rhino ramps that have deigned and tested for specific load rating. Can be had for $35 generally.

Yes, I currently have a pair of 2x10s (or 12s)...but I'd like to make something wider and longer. I park my daily car over the lift, but sometimes need to use that bay for the Excursion or Viper...so I'd like to make some that would accomodate all without having to move the boards.

RAYJAY...that might be the one. I did find that in my searching....but memory was telling me that the ones I remembered where 2x4s on their sides, but not with plywood on top. I think the guy that made them also said a buddy of his was willing to make them for sale.

06ramctd...that's it! Thanks! I remember (perhaps incorrectly) that it was a good thread with info on making those.

If you do go about making one, make sure you use both construction adhesive and screws to make a quality ramp. Nails for this application wouldn't be advisable, the weight of the car would quickly work the nails loose from the compression.
