I had a Snap On web site related question. Are the prices listed on the Snap On web site what buyers on a tool truck would pay? Or are there special discounts those users get?

There are promos on the truck that I haven't seen online. My dealer runs a lot of BOGO's - buy the deep socket set, get the shallows for free type of deals. The other common promo is 10% off or free merch/swag.

That attitude is part of the problem; people who aren't web developers think this stuff is easy and cheap, or even free. Get somebody's nephew or a college kid who's good with computers. Snap-On's management is apparently completely clueless about how much money they're losing and won't budget properly for fixing the mess.

I mean, fixing cars is just twiddling wrenches and picking your nose, right? It looks easy. Why should anyone get paid more than minimum wage for that?...

...To give a specific example, Tekton's new website is fantastic. Beautiful close-up photography, all the info you need (including COO), and you can buy right there on the site with free shipping. And I love how they sell lots of variations of tool sets in logical combinations. If you haven't checked it out lately, go take a look. It's really the model for what a tool website should be. And no, I'm sure it was NOT cheap and no "college kids" or "interns" were anywhere near the project: https://www.tekton.com

LOL, relax, I was making a joke for effect... I know it's neither easy nor cheap to get an excellent website together. However, I bet a free intern, in 90 days could improve the current S-o website. Its that bad, which was my point.

And I agree about Tekton. Great site, in every way.

Or unless you're a good customer who pays your dealer in full and doesn't carry a balance or make him chase you for payments. Then you might pay less.

Correct. Even making above minimum payments on time can warrant that. My dealer treats me well because I treat him well. I rarely pay msrp. I started off buying promo items and paying cash and he just kept feeding me promo items:lol_hitti Hook line and sinker.

I haven't seen a snap on guy in 2 years. Apparently when he started this route no one bought much from him at the shop so he wrote it off and never shows up. Tried calling on him and SO wont do anything about it. The shop next door and the ones across the street have their own SO guys too. That's 3 in the span of a few blocks. Territories make no sense

I guess what's most important depends on what your site's content is. RockAuto's content is a HUGE database of parts, and yet they make it amazingly easy and fast to drill down to just the part you need. In this case, I don't care in the least how pretty the site is.

For rock auto and snap on and the rest, I do not care about the website's styling and aesthetic design. As long as there's a picture in the product description I'm fine. I just wish SO's drop down menus actually worked. A bunch of submenus and drop downs and lists would be great. Just a list of every category, links to pages with the sub categories, then a page with a list of the tools. But no, we need some poorly working javascript with scrolling menubar, and every "page" is in opened in the java element so the back button doesn't work.

I agree it’s like Snapon only wants you to buy one thing from whatever page you’re currently viewing. Good luck trying to order 3-4 screwdrivers from one screen. You have to pick the item, be forced over to the cart, then continue shopping by starting your search all over again. Crazy painful and just makes no sense in this day and age.
