Actually... I thought it was MDF until I started looking closer at the other photos (after posting the photo above) ... the sockets and extension in that set are all marked "Japan".
I've seen knock-offs of S-K that looked remarkably similar to the real thing, but this one had me fooled.
This is the first time I've seen the "Marshall Industries" tag, though... which makes me curious.
The graphics are Peter Max era stuff, so... 1969-1972 approximately.

OH? First time I've seen THAT handle on anything other than a Craftsman RP or my "International Forge" model.

I know you've already determined it was a Japanese make, but there is a bit of a connection between Hunter and Easco, at least later on. Hunter was bought out by KD, I don't remember what year, and then KD was purchased by Easco in 1982.

I'm aware of the Hunter/Easco connection - I've seen several examples of that. I wasn't aware there was any connection to K-D.

Would also like to know where this "Marshall Industries" came into the picture, which gets less clear as time goes on:

Yes and fortunately it was in the place I remembered I found it, USPTO's TESS.
