I am looking for some 2" ratchet strap that are a "step above" HF ! The most important features is they need to "ratchet" in both directions, free spool on the way down !

2000 lbs "working load" is probably adequate.

I’ve had good luck with the straps I bought from US Cargo Control.

Maybe I'm slow, but I don't understand what you mean by ratchet in both directions?

Are you trying to push a chain uphill? :dunno:

The 20 refers to 20 foot rope, also available in other lengths. Ratchets both ways. Note that this is not a regular come-a-long as the rope does not wind up on a spool, it just goes around a sheave.

Right concept !

Just hoping to find it in strap without such a large handle.

The generic term is "web strap hoist". Big handle for big pull !

Can you use a boat winch like are commonly found on the tongue of a trailer? Controlled pull and controlled slack and then flip the pawl out under no load and it will free-spool.

Might be important to have a UV-stabilized strap if leaving it outdoors. The one on my boat trailer is 20yo and seems to be doing quite well.
Remove hand crank and use ratchet with appropriate socket.

I just wanted to add that it is impossible to ratchet something down without saying the phrase "That isn't going anywhere!".

I was on the hunt for small straps for my ladder rack on the truck. I bought some endless loop straps from here. Super nice quality.

Thanks for the morning laugh! To add to this, it needs to be said with an major dose of confidence as well. As if it going anywhere was ever in question.

Interesting. I've never seen a come-a-long mechanism in a tie down strap though. I suppose this comes close.

The proper term is web strap ratchet hoist. They are frequently used by linemen for tightening wire.

I have a web strap come along. It is a pain to use. The strap fills the spool before you get what you are hooked to where you want it to go.
