I don't know; I don't think you have enough ratchets! LOL!!

Maybe, you should give us a verbal "tour" of your collection; tell us what your favorites are and why... would like to hear what you think, since you have been able to try so many different types and brands of ratchets! If there are any particularly rare or unique ratchets; would love to hear about those as well!

Lastly, you are also helping me "rationalize" my own personal tool addiction; I have no where near as many ratchets as you, so, I guess I am doing "ok"! LOL! Thanks for helping me with addiction and keeping it going; I'm still in denial! I'm not so bad, compared to you! LOL

I could only imagine if I never sold a single ratchet!! I would have as many as powderkeg!! But all snap on, mac, matco.

I would never buy two ratchets that are similar. My 3/8" dr collection is as below:

1) SK palm control standard ratchet (my favorite).

2) Snap on standard ratchet.

3) Craftsman blue titanium thin profile ratchet.

4) Snap on flex-head long ratchet (chrome)

5) SK roto ratchet (10.5 inch long)

6) Snap on bent flex-head ratchet

7) Snap on breaker bar (9 inch).

8) SK 3/8" in 1/4" body flex head ratchet.

Now I think I have all the ratchets that I need.

Some 1/2" ratchets:

The problem I have now is that I'm out of room for 1/2" ratchets - had to remove some to get better pics. Terrible problem, ain't it...:bounce:

I love that Herbrand Speeder..... Barely missed it on Ebay... But I will own one too.

Nice collection

-BWP

Thanks!!

That speeder is one of my favorites - got it for like $10 or so at a big tool/shop auction many many years ago - everyone else was too consumed with over-bidding the well-used Snappy stuff.:) Those Herbrand ratchets of that ratcheting design are sooooo silky smooth, it's a shame they didn't last longer. Can probably blame that speeder for getting me started on the road to ratchet perdition

Don't spread it around too much that more of us exist, 'cause A) ratchet prices might skyrocket, and B) I don't want the guys in white suits with the custom leather jacket to show and take me awayyyyy...:eyecrazy:

I'll contribute one. This is a 1933 Snap on F-7. The reversible F-7 is one of the snap on mysteries. The F-7 was made from around 1927-1930 as a "push through" plug to reverse it. Around 1931 the F-70 came out and was a reversible ratchet, that looked the same as this ones does. The reversible F-7 has the same dimensions as the reversible F-70, but the part number of a (smaller headed, push through) ratchet made a few years earlier. Its not shown in any catalog. Whats the real story behind it? Who knows. We may never know

They are very rare today. The condition of this one is quite striking. The chrome is almost like new, the outer edges of the square drive are still very sharp from the original machining, due to few sockets ever being pushed on. Most of all, the ratcheting mechanism is extremely precise, more so than any other snap on ratchet I have held before the F-80. Thats saying a lot about the early production. Based on all of my other 3/8 early reversibles from this era, I thought all were sloppy, but this example proves that those are all just well used examples.

Thanks Wrenchr,I do like it its in nice shape.Eschoendorff,I'm not sure on the extensions,I bought only the ratchet from him.He had the two auctions running at the same time,I won the two ratchet and sparkplug socket one.The round head and extensions didn't meet reserve, for the second time($100),so I emailed him and offerred to buy just the ratchet and he bit.He sold me the round head for $50 and is shipping it with the others.
