Picked a path for the sander build. Going to keep it horizontal, as I think it is easier to build that way. I made the 2x72 grinder vertical and mounted the motor on the pole with unistrut. Didn't like it enough to do it again.
Made a design in CAD and baked in bend deductions. Some day I'll have to figure out the right way to design bent things. A simple step design, with a skirt for rigidity. 1/8" steel.
Not perfect but came out ok. I need to remember that my press brake has a minimum bend-to-bend spacing and design accordingly.
Added a flange to bolt the pole to, that still allows access to the bolts inside.
Cut a 5x4.5 lug pattern to mount the pole to a mustang wheel.
Repurposed a leg from an axle stand that already had a 2 bolt flange on it. Cut to length and made end threaded with a nut and washer welded on.
Made an upgraded workpiece rest out of 1/4 SS, tig welded. 2 bolts instead of just one.
Abandoned the sideways switch provisions inside the casting and mounted a safety switch on the outside.
In vertical configuration
Waiting on a pulley for the driven side, then need to figure out a belt and a belt guard.
