Put a Helmholtz resonator on each pipe, you can probably get away with 2" pipe to make them. One U-bend, and some straight, and make up a cap for the end. Worked great on my 2014 5.0L Coyote powered F150 and my 454 powered 'burb. 2" holesaw to punch the hole in the tailpipes and then grind and weld as necessary.

Here is a chart to determine length:

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f1..._dd75bf4ad279adc127a4b12f956e5ef515b703e4.png

My tuner has a whole spreadsheet for the topic, but I couldn't find it. He goes by "aknovaman" on the various forums.

P.S. dumping under the bed is probably making the drone worse, if I was a guessing man.

Pics of your 1/4-wave setups?

My first test drive w/o tail pipes didn't seem to have issue, so going to try that again and see if the tailpipe itself is to blame.

Next step on truck is to improve the steering with a high steer arm on passenger side. The steep angle of the drag link rotates the tie rod as you turn the wheel. It drives fine but makes odd noises as you change direction and TR twists. Was never happy with it. Pitman arm end is maxed out on angle and limit straps are set to protect. Might get another inch of down travel with moving knuckle end up. Other upside is flatter drag link, that allows flatter track bar, less lateral movement/bumpsteer.

So ordered parts from Sky offroad and going to send my P knuckle to them to get machined for the arm. Have to redo the linkage bars and whatnot.

While truck is down can install nirtous system. Looking forward to the custom install.

Justin, I don't have any of the setup that was on the F150, but here is the setup on the 'burb. The one I had on the F150 was able to be inline with the exhaust.

I make them adjustable so I can fine tune them as necessary. This one never had to be moved.

I have this old 4 lb sledge hammer that I continue to use even though the head flies off at times. Fixed it more than a few times, handle is beat, shortened. I guess like Mike I'm attached to this old tool and don't really want a new one. So did another round repair and gave it some love with a wire wheel. Not sure how old it really is, got it as a hand-me-down from my great uncles so at least 1980s.

I have an 8# sledge about like that. It is nice to be able to swing it with one arm and it fits in tighter spots. The real bonus is, if you need a 8# with a long handle, someone else's ego usually steps up for that task.

Been busy in the shop lately. Working on projects with my daughters and others.

Appling several coat of polyurethane to the bookshelf with child #1. Goal is to match the rest of the walnut furniture I made before she was born. Still had the same walnut oil and poly from before. She has always been a skilled artist and just has the touch for finishing work. Patient and methodical, driven for perfection. I gave a few tips and let her do all the work. Have applied 2 coat of brush on poly and will sand again and top coat with a few rounds of aerosol.

Made some progress on knife project with child #2. Decided to grind off the taper on the shank, so finger guard would fit better and handle could slip on and off for fitment. Plan to epoxy it on, no pins. next step in to machine the finger guard on the mill.

Made a trip to HF in an attempt to get a side cabinet. I doubted they really had them 'in stock' as claimed on the web, nope, just 'pre-order'. Oh well should get it in a few weeks I'm told. Going to put it on the dirty side of shop to hold weld and grinding items. Got some casters for it, not sure exactly where it is going. Also considering integrating it into the welding table, weld cart or something else.

As one would expect I did leave with other items, including an air-over-hydraulic 20T jack for my press. Also ordered a foot control so can use two hands in press ops.

72 ford has had intermittent hanging idle issues. Sometimes have to blip throttle to get it to idle down all the way. Found similar issues on Holley support forums and seems solution is to re-center the secondary throttle plates and add a winding to the secondary return spring. I confirmed issue by bumping only secondary throttle blade shut with screw driver and observing drop in RPM.

Pulled throttle body to access captive screws on bottom of unit. backed off idle screw to get full closure and carefully centered them in bores. Noticeably less sticky. Adding turn to spring was a ***** but got it done.

Contemplating manifold setup of spacers with addition of nitrous plate. The existing Jomar power cone spacer has a clover leaf shape that allow the 2 planes of intake to share air adding ~15 hp on dyno at high RPM for this combo. Unlike a toilet/carburetor the EFI unit already has an open area for IAB that allows leakage. The nitrous plate is an open plenum design with spray bar in same direction as plenum divider, so it also allow some leakage but not too much. So plan to abandon the power cone and run only the nitrous plate as it provides the same effect.

With TB off did some mock up of solenoids and plumbing. Going to put everything on right side away from linkage and **** on left. FPR is on right side so have to space out to clear.

Not sure I understand. All my previous setups were EFI not plate/carb types. What do you mean by a 'Y' at inlet?

I know that distribution may not be that great with dual plane. Given relatively small shot (75hp out of 500 total) I hope distribution issues are minimal. Nitrous express and others have better plates now, this is old tech stuff but price was right.

Don't let my ignorance fool you, plenty gets past me. I **** up and have to learn like everyone else. :)
Appreciate the feedback.

Shoulda clear coated the manifold when new. getting nasty but it's an old truck to play in the dirt.

Holy **** Justin, this is what I get for surfing the joint on my phone. I thought that was one single spraybar and there was laughing gas and dinosore piss going head to head in it. I just hopped on a real computer and could see its actually dedicated spraybars...........sooo my bad - never mind

:rolleyes2

I'm curious, do the noxious-oxide spray holes intersect the fuel spray holes in a way that is hoped to promote atomization of the fuel?

Added a air-over-hydraulic ram and foot control to my HF 20T press. Really a slick addition, can use both hands on workpiece. Bought some more short hoses to connect.

Put a lesser leftover 'M' coupler on the ram so pedal and hose assembly can be removed.

Moved the press over into the corner.

Kept moving Argon tank around as I tried different machine layouts. Then I finally decided to put it where it goes, on the weld cart. Huge TIG machine is going away as it is not used much and takes up a lot of room.

Made a larger tray out of 16 ga to hold pair of larger bottles, an 80 cu ft an a 250 cu ft.
a7Rge-BzE8CtYLo6eKLrJfGP5=w1230-h923-no?authuser=0.jpg

A few tack welds and paint. longer safety chain.
zx5InKUFtZD25eaWrPqp0y9J-=w1230-h923-no?authuser=0.jpg

Some day I will build a new weld cart from scratch but for now this will do. It does make the cart heavier and doesn't roll as easy. Guess it need bigger tires....

Slowly working on nitrous hardware. Cut a keyed hole in the dash to accept a second windshield washer switch. The WSW switch has all the functions needed including purge and heater. I chose to use a 'cargo' bezel to further disguise.

fab'd up some stainless #3 hard lines. Neighbor picked up a nice 3/16 Rigid bender so I broke it in. Having the right 37* flare tool is also nice.

Foot pedal and thumb wheel on the jack transform those air over setups. I have a foot pedal on my 50T. I love it.

Shop is looking great!

Nice upgrades and mods to the shop equipment Justin.

Love the hidden in plain sight nitrous controls using a windshield washer switch.
Thanks Mike. Money has been tight this year so deferred some toys until I had the cash. The items I picked up will make a difference in quality and time saved.

I though the WSW switch was a slick idea. Kinda pricy compared to typical switches but keeps dash clean. Feedback indicators (arm, heater, active) will use existing icons in instrument cluster in a similar fashion.

It really does help. A 20T bottle jack hardly moves with one pump of handle.
I just bought another foot control for my hoist with a AoH ram on it after see how handy it was on the press.

Can be done, if it's worth trying to you, by linearly spacing the QD's with a long ******. Or turn them both 45° facing away from each other. Another option would be to put the QD's on the ends of short hoses, like maybe a pair of hose whips.

I had been wanting some type of tool/consumable storage on the weld/grind side of the shop. With recent re-org (shuffling the deck chairs they call it in the cooperate world) I made a space along the wall for a HF side cabinet. Shoulda integrated into welding table but not going to hack one up for that at this time.

So I bought a side cab in blue. Why not red? Don't want to over do the red theme and have some blue stuff over there already. Hopefully the blue and reds don't bicker and fight with each other over the typical philosophical issues, we will see.

Everything is better on wheels so step one was to slap on some casters. Wanted 2 fixed but ended up with 4 swivel/locks. Was able to use existing holes and make them work for now with minimal effort. Would be better to build a frame and move wheel to corners for stability.
yM3UBfWM8EOEKyjd4xdUwavai3=w592-h789-no?authuser=0.jpg

SWMBO argued why more tool boxes were needed and what possibly would I put in it? stuff.
D2d0Ndlfx10dtAxlqVSCB3KaG=w1052-h789-no?authuser=0.jpg

Loaded the goods, re-arranged a bit and called it a victory for now. :)
Next step is to add a dent and cover in grinder dust and chips.

Can't have too much red Justin????? Huh???? What????? At least as far as tool storage goes I would kindly disagree.:)

Welders just have to be BLUE though. ;)

Working on nitrous system solenoid mounting. Mounted fuel one on it's own on a single manifold bolt but knew alignment with the other would never perfect so aborted and changed directions. Made a rail type mount for all three and used different manifold bolts. Really need to use two mount bolts to be able to torque down with effecting alignment. Came up with this, 1/4 rod and some 1/8 flat stock, slice of DOM. Solenoid base to port heights are different so had to adjust to as needed. Didn't want to weld in place next to EFI so had to test fit a 'few times' to get it dialed in.

Routed #6 fuel supply back around manifold to ease access to fuel jet that is on the back of the injection plate.

Long way to go on wiring and other things but starting to look the part.
