I have worked a LOT on old MBs and always used original MB brake/clutch parts, which are most often made by a German brake and clutch company, Alfred Teves.
They supply a tube of blue ATEVE grease in all their kits. They also sell the same lube in a 2 dl can with a nice applicator brush.
Also use their brake fluid.
Never a problem and it seems to retain it´s properties for well over 25 years on hobby cars that sits 98% of the time so nothing brake/clutch related ever wears out.
