Don't forget discount code: Sears2012 if purchasing more that one set or combining with other items.

Also, free shipping on orders most orders over $25 through 6/11 for Father's day. These would make great Father's Day gifts.

Finish looks a little different than the Knipex set I have. Anyone seen these inperson? Are they just rebranded, or did Sears screw with the design?

thanks,

Kent

The grip is a little different but the jaws and all are the same thing. A few years back, Knipex expanded the jaw opening on the Knipex versions and followed shortly with the Craftsman versions. I would want to make sure I got the new ones that open the widest. (I personally only have the old version but I guess I have never really needed a larger opening.)

I was at a Sears on Saturday here in OKC. I was looking for a USA wrench. Could not find what I was looking for. I did see the cobra set just like in the pics u have up above. They felt a tad bit different than what I have in my box. I have both straight knipex brand and MAC TOOLS version in knipex and they have the red grips. I can't tell you what it was, but it just felt different. Look the same other than the color of grip, but I swear that there is some crapman bad ju ju on them? Dunno, probably my eyes playing tricks on me. For the price they can not be beat. I paid 45 for my knipex and 48 for my MAC set.

Aside from the items mentioned the only other difference I see is the back spring is held by a screw on the Knipex and a rivet on the Craftsman. The head looks very similar to the set I have from Channellock they call grip lock. Not the same, just similar. Still being the collector type I see myself buying these just because.

Actually its a screw with a torx head, no rivet.:rocker:

Just went to Sears on lunch and got these for 30.00$ out the door w/ club membership. Oh yeah!!

The guy did a price adjust in store for the e-tail price. Must be a rounding thing. And i guess since it was "sold" in IL (Sears head quarters) no CA tax..??

I'll see if i can find the receipt and post it.

Does this re-branded cobra have the same functionality as Knipex Pliers wrench? like the following one? Or they are used in totally different applications?

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000X4OG94/?tag=atomicindus08-20

NO WAY !, the Knipex Pliers wrench open parallel the cobra doesn't, you use the pliers wrench on the smooth sides of the nuts / bolts, the cobra's at the corners. With the pliers wrench you can create way more force due to the fact of the "double action - leverage". With the pliers wrenches you can open nuts/ bolts without damaging them.

Thanks for pointing out all the advantages of pliers wrench.
So if I already have Knipex pliers wrench, I don't need these craftsman cobra pliers any more?

These are used more like toung and groove pliers, and the pliers wrench is used more like an adjustable. It's good to have both.
Most people have both; channel locks and crestent wrenches. Same difference here.

I just picked up a set of these yesterday...thanks for the heads up guys! Now, if they could put the plier wrench on sale I'd be happy!
