My garage has a corner I left open kind of like a mini carport. It's a good place to sit in the shade and it added a little architectural detail to an otherwise big box garage. It's 10' deep x 7 1/2 feet wide. I have a 6' double door at the back of it to get the lawn tractor inside the garage. I thought I would use this more for things that needed outside messy work but I've rarely used it for anything other than sitting. I was thinking about enclosing it and using it for the tractor storage. This would do several things. One, it would give me the area inside to use as my engine assembly shop. Two, I could keep the stinky grass/gas smell out of the garage and three, it wouldn't mess up my soon to be ground and epoxied floor.
Problem is I need a garage door that will match the other 3 but be scaled down to fit the opening without looking wierd. Something like a 6 x 8 or 6 x 7. My other doors are 9 x 8. I'll still leave the man doors in place for access to it from inside the garage.
I can add a new garage entrance door to the left side. It's now under the "carport" area. Right now there is a walkway to the garden shed down that side that we are working on improving. The Garage door would be accessed from that path with an awning over the door which I think would look kinda cool. Maybe an old style light and/or garage sign.
The drawing is the layout as it would be after moving everything, but you can see how things are now as well. Just move the tractor inside the double doors and disregard the side entrance door. The pictures I hope help explain this thing as well.
Opinons please. And any leads on a custom scaled down door?
