This is the taper attachment compound slide from the 10" Wards Power-Kraft (Logan 200). Notice that it's one piece (from S/N 50842 To 88226 it is two-piece, but the one-piece cover will work for all Wards and Logan 200 lathes as well as the Logan 11" lathes?). I'll replace it with a two-piece cover and sell the taper attachment complete with this taper cross-slide since I do not plan on using a taper attachment. A brand new taper attachment is $1,680.00 from Logan and a taper attachment sans the compound slide recently sold for $225 on eBay (unuseable without the requisite $672.00 compound slide), and a recent sale for $750 for a complete unit, so a rough estimate of $750 seems reasonable for a fully working setup.

I finished the PowerKraft lathe yesterday and spent today doing alignment checks and oiling it. Larger carriage dial, new Logan-sourced headstock bearings, new oilless bearings in headstock cone pulley, no broken gears in headstock, new serpentine drive belt, new way wipers, QCTP, 4-Jaw chuck, full set of change gears, wrenches to fit crossslide and tailstock. Lathe is under power. 120V single phase motor.

Now it's looking just like my machine, well besides the fact that mine is a filthy, inoperable mess at the moment anyways.
I listed the lathe on FB Marketplace since I already have a Logan 400 and a Logan 200 and there's no need fo a second 10" lathe (according to my wife anyway.). Next up is putting the Bridgeport back together and then I can get back to working on the hotrods.

Starting work on re-assembling the Bridgeport mill. First an epoxy primer, then an industrial enamel. I know teh casting is rough, but I'm skipping the OEM Bondo step because it's just cosmetic and it's not a beauty contest.

New addition to the shop, a 1971-vintage Craftsman toolbox made by Waterloo. A little cleanup and it's good to go.

I'm just on the lookout for a replacement badge for the top box. Also, a few clips were missing from the slides; easily sourced from eBay as was the badge. Anti-rust drawer liner ordered as well

Once again, a proposed sale of the build has fallen through. Essentially what has been happening is that they make a full price offer and wait until the end of the due diligence period to find fault with the building (faults that have been pointed out and discussed openly with them) and then low-ball an offer. Screw these guys; they must assume I am in a big need to sell.

Likely what they are trying to do is assign the sale before closing. When you receive an offer just counter with a no assignments clause and that the buyer on the offer must close no exceptions. They are tying it up while THEY look for a buyer and when they can't they use the BNSR as an excuse. See it all the time. Always do a no assignments clause to weed out these BS'ers. They are trying to flip it without ever taking title basically.

Look back on some of those canceled contracts. Usually they try and sneak it on one of the signatures at the end of even right on the first page it will say "buyers name or assignee". That means they are going to transfer their purchase rights to someone else at the time of closing. So they are going to sell it and keep the difference and never even show up to closing some else will.

It's like title jumping a car, re-selling it without ever legally owning it.

In Some states you forfeit the earnest money for **** like that. Seems like our last purchase had a clause in which there was an additional good faith deposit that was non refundable for any reason. 1% if I recall correctly. I’d see about something like that.

What's even more sheisty is when they pull that **** on the elderly. We see it quite a bit here in AZ. Some skeeze fly by night realtor will seek out the elderly for that.

Real world example where we got a judge to void the contract so he could walk no harm received.

Elderly man was approached by one of these poachers. Offered 187k for his house, not being in his right mind he signed it. A few days later that buyer assigned the contract to an investor for 225k who was to compete the closing. So "buyer" 1 was set to make 38k for two days worth of "work". He wanted to close so bad he was making trips to the hospital where the elderly gentleman was and trying to get him to sign closing docs from a hospital bed!!!

We got everything voided. Listed the house on MLS and due to location it ended up in a bidding war....listed for 249k, closed at 349k.

The original buyer even promised buyer #2 the man's car and personal property! Buyer 2 would have walked with a house, a car and all possessions. No sirs!!

Old guy 1, sneeze ball 0 !!

I tried, but no go. I see no point in earnest money that is refundable on a whim.
UPDATE: I spoke with my agent and told him that since they were asking for extra time, they should pay -something- and I wanted them to have some skin in the game to discourage frivolous offers. He agreed, bu needed to figure out how to word it since it was not a "standard" way to do business.

Just to update my discussion of the sale of my workshop, it appears that the buyers have agreed to all my requests and a closing is set for mid-february and I have 45 days after closing to remove my things. The problem is that I no have nowhere to keep my things, at least nowhere within a 30-minute drive from my house, So I'm in the market for a commercial building where I can have one or more tenants to cover the cost of the property. Everything might need to go into storage until that happens.

Finally closed on March 14th. The contract allows me to stay until 60 days after closing to move things, but the buyer wants me out sooner (didn't bother to read the contract, I assume) or they will lose their tenant. They are now willing to pay for a professional mover under my supervision and I've located a nearby 1500 sq. ft. space. I'll need to downsize, but I've already sold off a few projects (one lathe, 454 BBC, 360 MOPAR, Triumph TR2) and have had good response for what is left that I have for sale.

The old shop is sold and I've moved everything into 6 storage units. The lifts have been dismantled and stored. The cars have been moved to storage; on e was sold. I sold one of the lathes, the 360 MOPAR engine and the 454 BBC. I purchased a new place just a few miles down the road that should close soon. It had been used as an illegal nightclub and gambling den, so it should have some good vibes.

I close on the new shop on June 18. It's an office-warehouse condo, 1500 sq. ft. on the ground, 1500 sq. ft. on the second floor located about 2 miles from my old place. Plans include building a dumbwaiter to allow easy movement/storage of things. Only cars and tools downstairs.

I'll have access after the 18th and will post some pictures then.
The old place will become a Bintelli golf cart dealership. I'll have some pics of the old place next week as well.

Demo all done! I removed the floor above where the 4-post lift will sit and put those big double doors upstairs and I can use the lift as a make-shift freight elevator. I have a 2-post Benwill lift that will be installed closer to the front door. I don't have any room for the Kwick-Lift so I have that for sale on FB Marketplace. The next step is to paint the walls and ceiling white before putting down a gray epoxy floor.

You just never know what you'll find that people leave behind.

A Vulcan FM-30 commercial kitchen mixer. It works and has the basic attachments. It's listed on FB Marketplace.

A 6" by 7' oil painting. all rolled up sans frame aka "stretcher. I have no idea what it looks like or if it has any significant value, but I'll eventually frame it and hang it on the wall.

I also found some motorcycle tires and helmets and quite a few cabinets and countertops.

A beer cooler, still running with three cold beers. I just gave that away to get it gone.

I hope you are doing something to improve that extremely sketchy looking electrical panel on the back wall.

Good catch. The electrician arrives on Monday to install a new main panel and two sub-panels.

Once I get a time frame for the epoxy floor installation, the HVAC guy is up and I can schedule the movers to empty out 4 storage units, Finally, the lifts get installed and I can get back to work.

The epoxy floor contractor just informed me that he was unable to do the job, citing personal medical reasons. I wished him well and found a reputable contractor who will do the same work . . . for $2,000 less.
