Pump 4b247b for speedaire 4B228E

I wanted to make the air output bigger, 1/2 instead of 1/4.

Got the idea from post #38

When I removed the bung to make it 1/2, I saw a bunch of rust inside the tank.
So I poured 10 gallons of vinegar to get rid of the rust. Letting it sit in different positions for a few days.

While I'm doing that, I got the air pump removed.
I remember I was getting small oil residue in my inline filter, so not sure if pump cylinder is leaking oil or smth.

Seems like it could be a good time to rebuild the pump, not sure if that'd be a good idea.

Never ever did anything like this before, so not sure if it's a good idea or not, and how hard it is to find a rebuild kit.

Not sure if anyone has any experience rebuilding a compressor pump, maybe even the same model?

Grainger may be able to get you kit, but I think that most if not all will have little oil in there. Because I spray paint some I installed oil separator then water separator just help. I have sandblaster also, they sure use lot of cfm’s

Compressors use oil for oil free air they make oil coalescing ait filters that filter out oil aerosols and micron size particles. To check the connecting condition without pulling the compressor apart. While it's running block inlet air for a few seconds compressor is quiet it's good , if there's rod knock needs to be inspected.
