Recent machinery additions to the workshop.

I will eventually figure the best place to have a dedicated workshop thread but for now will show off my most recent purchases here.

I’m still getting stuff home so these pictures are from before they arrived at home.

The welder and drill press were purchased close together. The grinder a few weeks after.

I also this morning found a smaller bench grinder that I forgot I had. Was hiding under a bench under some stuff.

I have this strange habit of forgetting I own things.

I still need to get some kind of saw, a bigger air compressor, a, and a linisher and an oxy-acetylene setup.

Once I have that stuff I feel I’ll be able start working on things.

When you get the drill press home could you post some close up photos of the power downfeed? I have the same drill, but without the downfeed. I might make one someday if I run out of things to do.

That drill press is beefy as hell. Table could use a bit of work but I like the vertical mounting surface it has. Never seen that before.

You'll love that Miller Synchrowave. Solid and dependable machine.

Nice pillar drill, Startright EFI I believe, with power feed so very useful, the most versatile type of table, which is seen on several European makes, probably around 800lbs of quality you can't get anymore.
Even though I own a 4 spindle gang drill, I would still pick up a drill like that if one came up locally for the right price.

That is the problem with using nice gear. You realize how much nicer it makes working in the shop and after a while you don't want to use anything else.

Nice tools. I love my Syncrowave 350. I have a Startrite cold saw, and if your drill press is anything like my saw, it is built very well.

I’m thinking about repairing the table but honestly it’s purely cosmetic except on the side. The table top is still perfectly usable and honestly after years of using drill presses most of the time I’m using a clamped vice anyway.

Bit of a delay but here’s some updates. Things getting there.

Everything to wire in the Syncrowave was big and high amperage so had to be special ordered and with it being the holidays the electrician was still waiting on the circuit breaker.

It is wired to allow full use of the machine. Will be able to use the full amp range and duty cycle. I also have a new Coolmate 3 cooler to go with it.

Crazy thing was it was cheaper for me to but my millar water cooler brand new than it was to buy a second hand one.

Single phase is 230-240v 50hz. 3 phase is 400-415v 50hz.

I had 3 phase installed on my property at my own expense.

I have seen phase converters advertised in the odd magazine but I don’t know anyone using one down here. Anyone who genuinely has a use for 3 phase either has it or gets it installed. All the utility poles are wired for it you just need to pay to be connected to it.

You’ll like that 350. One of the best welders Miller made. Nothing fancy, but a good workhorse.
