This is a "be careful what you ask for, you just might get it !"

Electronic air filters require frequent cleaning, like once a month, for them to be effective. Best way to clean them (used to be) in a dishwasher,

We literally JUST had the entire HVAC system in our house replaced. Finished last Friday. This included having all the asbestos wrapped ducting removed/replaced. We went with a Goodman system. Looked at Trane and others but the Goodman has a lifetime warranty on a stainless firebox - our old, cracked one was the reason we had to make the investment now, and also the fact that the A/C unit had died last summer.

Our contractor and the literature told us we only need to put the filters into the dishwasher about every 6 months. Don't know if that would be different in other less dry parts of the country compared to SoCal.

Somewhere in there-
Sheet metal work (rebuild the plenum), electrical work (need dedicated 15amp circuit), General HVAC knowledge.

yikes! i thought it would just wire into the furnace's supply panel, like a thermostat. rethinking this now....

If you have a newer furnace, there will be EAC terminals for the power to the air cleaner. You don't need a seperate circuit for it.

Is that the return or supply duct?

I prefer the 3"-5" thick, low pressure drop filters like the Air Bear vs. electronic.
