Red steel re-insulate options

Bought a large building that was a warehouse. A section of that was your basic red steel structure that was insulated. The walls have been hit by fork trucks pushing them out in a few places a buckling the siding. The other side of the building was a heat treat/powder coating area so there is a number of large holes in the walls from ventilation units and exhaust. I plan to remove the skin from the pushed out section, shorten it to the correct length and install it on the wall with all the holes.

Now onto the question, the insulation on both walls is torn up from forklift operators getting a bit to close and tearing it. With the skin off where does one find the insulation used on steel buildings? Is it as straight forward as one assumes, hang it from the upper girt and install the siding over it? Thanks all.

That is correct. However the roof is on and that will present some problems. Normally the insulation is attached at the base angle with double stick tape and then pulled up over the eave girt and clamped. With The roof on that can't happen. With the eave trim installed getting to the top screws for the sheets will be tough. In the past we have taken a chisel and broken the heads off. There should be plenty of room to screw on the new sheets below the eave trim.

The insulation is probably ok higher up. Cut it about 6" above a girt and install the new insulation sandwiched under that girt and extending up to the old insulation. Install some patch tape provided by the insulation supplier on the seam. be sure to clean the old insulation so the tape sticks.

Google metal building insulation and try to find a supplier near you so freight isn't to bad. They will supply the insulation, double stick tape and patch tape. If you know how long the pieces will be they will usually pre cut it, roll it up and bag it.

Try to picture replacing the sheets after they are glued to the building. There have also been rust through problems with spray foam. Plus you will probably have to cover it in a commercial setting because of fire issues. And it is very expensive.
