Another picture of the garage in "winter mode". This morning's temperature was 2F. Sunday's high temperature is estimated at -1F.

Spring please get here soon! :willy_nil

Your viper looks like he was put in the corner for bad behaviour hahaha.

Haha it does!

Last spring when I finally had her out, she was getting a thorough wash in the driveway and one of my neighbors walking by said "hey you pulled it out of the rafters!" Took me a minute to figure out what he was talking about, but definitely well played. From that view on the driveway it looks way up in the air.

I did snag one of those towel racks from ikea. I just need it to warm up so I can figure out where to put it on the wall.

Nice! I've unsuccessfully tried twice now to get another.

Looks great Stretch. I am planning on finishing the inside of mine this year and I was thinking of using a red stripe to match my outside. Thanks for showing how it would look! No Viper inside.. just a couple oldies.

The snow on the ground tells me you're not really in Magaritaville

Physically not so much. Mentally..... definitely in Margaritaville :)

That garage looks great from the outside! Can't wait to see how the interior looks when you get it painted. Tell me more about these oldies you're hiding inside.

Bummer. I need to get to one of the actual stores. I found a wall cabinet on the website that I'd like to buy to keep my garage towels in, but the shipping is a little pricey to order it. The closest store is about 2 hours away. A road trip may be required this spring.

Lots of work to do inside. I think I will have someone do a metal ceiling for me, then I will sheetrock the walls.. minimizing the taping! These are the inhabitants.

Hey everyone! I've been trying to get back to hanging out on this site more because I miss it. It's been a crazy spring so far. I have one big update for the garage. I traded the 95 Viper RT/10 for an 05 Viper SRT/10 convertible. I loved the RT but it was time for an upgrade that included windows. They're very nice to have on road trips. I purchased the car in early April and have already put 4,600 miles on her. She's been to Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee so far with more road trips on the calendar! :)

How did I miss your thread? Love it! I'm a fellow viper nut too! I'm planning to do the tail of the dragon in mine this summer with some friends. Very cool you've done that.

I've really considered an early RT10 or GTS viper since I love the Viper heritage so much. How did you like it compared to your Gen III? I had a 2006 red/silver and loved that car. I have a 2013 SRT now - my favorite car of all time.

I've seen a silver convertible like yours in person and it was flat out gorgeous. Congrats!

I'm from Lexington KY originally - where did you move from?

Cheers friend!

Another Viper nut! :) The Tail is fun, but a bit tight for a Viper since it is so wide. There are many other roads around there that are fun for your drive there and back. Definitely hit the Cherahola Skyway. That is my favorite road in that entire area. I will be back there in early June for my yearly trip.

I lived in Louisville and Shelbyville while I was in Kentucky. I made it over to Lexington some as well because my wife lived there for a while before we got married. We really enjoyed our time there.

And for the Viper question. I jumped into the gen 1 RT/10 first because that's what the budget supported at the time. I like the look of the GTS better, but wanted to be able to drive with the top down. The 95 was an awesome car. I loved that it was ridiculous and impractical. It was loud, hot, wide, low, and generally made no sense to own (don't forget no door handles!), but it was a blast to drive. I bought the car with high flow cats and a Borla exhaust already on it and it sounded great. The only downside was the difficulty with road trips. I had to decide windows or no windows and the top leaked in the rain, which you will inevitably find somewhere on a road trip. Having said all that, I put 32k miles on her in 7 years and I loved every minute of it.

When I was finally ready to upgrade, I went gen 3 instead of GTS because I wanted to keep that top down driving possibility. The gen 3 has some nice upgrades compared to the early cars, particularly the suspension setup, brakes, and seats. It feels much more nimble on curvy roads and easier to drive through them. I was always wrestling the gen 1 a bit through those same roads in Tennessee. I have kept he exhaust quiet so far because its easier to deal with on road trips, but I think that will change next year because I miss that rowdiness I had on the old one.

If I could have kept both I would have. The gen 3 is a great road tripping car and the gen 1 is a great local car to cruise around in. If you are already enjoying the gen 5 and are interested in the older ones I would highly recommend doing it. It will be less comfortable than your gen 5, but it will feel very raw and fun. The early cars are definitely street legal race cars and are fun to drive. I have a friend with a gen 2 RT/10 in Nashville if you wanted to see one up closer.

Apparently I never updated this thread with new pictures of the gen 3 Viper. I decided that I needed to add some more to the silver convertible. After going back and forth on color options for months I could not get away with the look of the blue stripes on the silver. Dodge did this combo first in 98 or 99 on the GTS and I always loved the look. This particular blue jumped out when I looked through the sample book so we ran with it.

The stripes looked so good when they were done I decided to have all the logos ripped off as well and replaced with the same blue. A bit of a tribute to the gen 5 TA's and ACR's that have vinyl logos.

Thanks for the reply! Love the feedback on your vipers. We sound similar with gladly trading the creature comforts for the fun and brutal power instead. (I have a classic camaro and it goes straight fast but that's it!) Sounds like an early Viper would be right up my alley. I know what you mean on the top down. We got the wife a modern convertible and we both love having the top down. I never considered convertibles much but it is so fun to drive. I used to ride streetbikes and it's about as close as you can get with big power and the top down to have that open air freedom again.

I like your new stripes too. Blue and silver look perfect together.

When you start looking at changing your exhaust there are some good options. I put Corsa on both my vipers and like it. You may want it louder and can add some hi flow cats. Belanger headers with Corsa I hear is heavenly but not cheap with the Viper tax prices!

Yeah it sounds like you need a gen 1 or 2 Viper as an addition to your garage. The only downside to the RT is that you have to decide top on or off before you leave because they are so big.

I've been checking the sound of other Vipers when I go to meets to see what I may like the best. I may go with the same combo I had on my RT because I really liked it. I could go cheap and do just the cat back, but if I have the side sills all the way off I should do the high flow cats as well to keep the temps down.

I've heard the full exhaust swap on several local gen 5's and they sound great as well.

To be continued!
