I've got one that's marked 13/16" - 20.6mm, and I love it.What?... no love for the 13/16 spark plug socket?
Hell, I love all my spark plug sockets.
Never met a spark plug socket I didn't at least like.

Maybe try wearing heavy gloves?------------------------------ I hate the lawn mower. Everything on it is sharp. No matter how careful I am changing its two easily accessible spark plugs, it's a week before my knuckles grow back. I don't get it.

Width across flats for hexnuts :5/8 is 15.875mm.
(.6250 vs .6299)
They are not the same, but typically close enough for use on a fastener head.
Yes, im being THAT guy...![]()
There for a while everything you bought came with a spark plug socket or two. I could probably weld furniture up out of the amount of them I've had.
Been a lifetime of collecting honestly couldn't say where these came from. Only recall using the Snap-on 5/8ths as of late. There for a while everything you bought came with a spark plug socket or two. I could probably weld furniture up out of the amount of them I've had.
Huh?Width across flats for hexnuts :
5/8= .932-.938"
16mm= .932-.945"
So many are in fact the same.
Now I'm THAT guy.
Oops, I looked at the chart from thread size.Huh?

So, in trying to correct accurate information you had to correct yourself.Oops, I looked at the chart from thread size.
Anyway the nuts themselves at 16mm and 5/8 have standard tolerances of about .011- .013" so being they're only about 5 thou different the majority of the nuts will actually be the same.
Nevermind the probably massive overlap in socket size tolerance. There are probably 5/8 sockets that are closer to 16 than 16s and vice versa.

I managed to gash my pinkie finger recently while starting my newest weedwhacker - this new one had a plastic lever that you pull to engage the choke (it is automatically disengaged when you open the throttle), the plastic had a sharp edge that did the damage - I'll be wearing heavy gloves from now on...

14mm is .551"And the point is? I have at least 20 spark plug sockets most of which I'll never use again as my Toyota takes 14mm (9/16 for those still using the antiquated imperial system) spark plugs.

18mm is a fair bit smaller than 3/4".My OCD is killing me that 18mm and 3/4 havent been included in this discussion.
I feel much better now.
No, 15mm is .5906" 14mm is .5512" 9/16" is the closest Imperial size to 14mm and is 0.0113" bigger than 14mm but will still work fine for changing spark plugs.15mm is .551"
9/16" is .5625"
Water? you mean like out the toilet? So, in trying to correct accurate information you had to correct yourself.
There is a lot of knowledge here. Try adding water to your concrete before sending it down the chute.
Regardless, welcome to the board.
Still, when you account for tolerances in the ANSI standard on nut sizes, they overlap. Then add on clearance that different socket manufacturers use and one brands 9/16 may be tighter on a 14mm than another brands 14mm.No, 15mm is .5906" 14mm is .5512" 9/16" is the closest Imperial size to 14mm and is 0.0113" bigger than 14mm but will still work fine for changing spark plugs.
I have a whole box full of 16mm, well in truth I've got a full box of 14mm too, spark plug sockets. Why? Because that's how TOPTUL sells them. But that pretty pedestrian, What's cool is that I also have both in T-handle. Check these out.
14mm: https://www.toptul.com/en/product-325213/T-Handle-Magnetic-Spark-Plug-Socket.html
16mm: https://www.toptul.com/en/product-325214/T-Handle-Magnetic-Spark-Plug-Socket.html
What's amazing is how much torque you can apply with the T-handle. I often don't need a ratchet to remove plugs. They are even better at removing and installing the plugs post breaking them loose and pre-torqueing them. Obviously they work better on overhead camshaft engines with the plugs on top than they would on a SBC.

Well that's way less than I expected. I figured that was some sort of Snap-on specialty socket and was going to be closer to $80-120, hence a locking extension made more sense. For $15 it's probably worth having one more spark plug removal weapon in the arsenal.I think it was around $15. Mine was Neiko, I think, but pretty much identical. Locking extensions are probably more versatile, though.
No, the socket is on a ball swivel. (Look closely at the pictures.) I'll have to check my stock but if you talk to me really nice I MIGHT be willing to sell you one of each as I have a couple of each size 14mm and 16mm. I can tell you what I'd charge you for them which is $20@ plus whatever the USPS robs me for to ship them. The ridiculous price increases that the Post Office has pushed through is one of the reasons I got out of the TOPTUL business. Some of the stuff I was selling on EBay cost less than what it currently cost me to ship it which *****.Oh no…here comes another purchase.
Is the shaft and socket all one piece?
Ive never successfully found where to buy Toptul in the US (I know they don’t target this market).
Way a typo. Big fingers and tiny keys. No, 15mm is .5906" 14mm is .5512" 9/16" is the closest Imperial size to 14mm and is 0.0113" bigger than 14mm but will still work fine for changing spark plugs.

You could scroll past his threads.Well, it would be nice. Does anybody benefit from knowing that you have two spark plug sockets? Typically, people come on this board to get an answer to a question, even extremely stupid ones. I have absolutely nothing against you Garcky but you seem to just throw random thoughts out there, which is fine, but I'm a question answering type of guy so you confuse me. What is it that you want to know? Do you wonder if other people have two spark plug sockets of the same size? (I bet many of the evil bastards on this board do.) And, if they do should they be shot at sunrise? It's clear that we have dramatically different personalities and variety is what makes the world go round but I don't understand many of your posts as I don't know what it is that you're asking. Once again, that's OK.
Yep sure is. Wasn’t inferring they were equivalent. I was saying those two spark plug sizes hadn’t been mentioned yet.18mm is a fair bit smaller than 3/4".
19mm is .748"
Yea, that was sufficient groveling. I'll PM you with the details on how to complete this transactionAh yes I see that ball swivel. Nice touch.
So what does nice talk mean to you? Flattery? Your posts are eloquent and your proper use of capitalization is much appreciated as a reader.
Hyperbolic compliments? You’re the greatest anonymous poster I’ve ever met.
But for real - if you’re fine with it I would like one 14mm and one 16mm and would be grateful.
Thank you.
