Can you refill either the DeWalt or Milwaukee battery operated grease from a pail or drum of grease ? Yes, I know a pump is required to get it out of the container.

Yes. No pump needed. Stick the part that the grease tube goes into in the pail of grease, pull the handle back. It'll **** it in.

Many guns require you to reverse the rubber follower to use bulk grease without it bypassing the plunger, I'm not sure about the one mentioned.

I suction filled an M12 grease gun quite a bit for a while, worked fine, no mess a rag couldnt handle. The place I was at didnt want you using tubes (too expensive apparently) and the drum greaser was obnoxious to use for certain applications on equipment.

If you own several pieces of heavy equipment, you will know why !
I've always used tubes.
Figured out costs once and a pail or keg wasn't much savings compared to the hassle.

Have used drums at jobs though.

One customer I deliver to uses 1-2 55 gallon drums of grease a month.

I have a vehicle that uses special grease inside the swivel housings on the front axle. Grease is sold by Mercedes only in “old-school” bulk containers, not available in grease tubes.
Unimog?

I run regular grease "whatever is in the gun" on my 406.

I believe the answer is yes but why? Seems ultra messy to me. Using cartridges is bad enough this seems ten times as bad.
As to not be wasteful, for one. Just don't be a slob and it'll be fine. It's not that big of a deal

A couple of year old thread brought back by a now banned spammer.
Spammers **** but I honestly didn’t notice this was an old thread until your post. Sometimes I enjoy seeing stuff I’d otherwise miss 🤷‍♂️

That being said, I keep a few hand pump guns with special grease in them for the oddball things but the bulk of the grease that is used on the farm comes in 5gal pails. We’ll go through 8-10/yr so it’s quite a bit less expensive for us. We tried a 55gal keg but but reaching in to **** it out got real messy by the end of the keg lol

Not a big deal when the topics are still relevant to modern updates.

However, there's times when the subject matter contains something that is completely out of whack like electronics or such. I usually close those down and let someone start a new thread rather than see members constantly quoting old irrelevant posts.

The other issue is when a thread is brought back several times by different spammers. . . . Some topics are like spammer bait.
