I picked up three of the sure shot (made in usa!) 1000 refillable sprayers for brake cleaner, pb blaster and wd-40. These things are awesome!.. no idea why I waited so long to get some :dunno: but I sure got tired of half full cans of brake cleaner running out of propellant :( Now I can just buy it in gallon jugs and refill these

Probably one of my favorite purchases in quite a while :rocker:

anyone else use these?

Great...another product discovered here that will take my money eventually!

What are your thoughts on the size so far? I think I like the model M size better as I just don't spray anything that much to need the model A capacity. The 16 oz Model B is honestly the size that appeals the most but their note about valve maintenance makes me curious on what that maintenance cycle is on normal home garage/workshop usage.

The capacity is great, but realistically you aren't filling the whole thing to the top. You fill it like 1/2-2/3 and the top gets the air. I don't think the overall dimensions will be much larger than the aluminum ones once you figure in the size of the handle on the M model.

The nice thing with the aluminum ones is they are aluminum inside as well, so you can have water based stuff in them and they come only with adjustable nozzles. The steel A models are bare steel inside, so although oily stuff and chemicals is fine, water is a no no.. but you'll see people in the reviews complaining even though it says in the directions not to lol

The default spray on the steel 1000a models is kind of a cone mist. You can saturate a good area fast. You can pop the nozzle off and pull out a spiral thing and it'll shoot a stream, but I haven't really had the need yet. They do however sell different nozzles separately, like a long needle one, a couple flexible models and I think a couple others, so there is some ability to change depending on what you want to use it for

I bought it from amazon. Napa apparently carries it, but my local one couldn't find any that their computer said were in stock :dunno:

Not sure about CA, but in the slightly free-er states Amazon has Brakecleen in 1 gal containers

Yup thats the exact one I bought. Picked up a gallon of wd-40 from harbor freight and used a coupon and the pb blaster I got from advanced auto.

In another place, at another time, We did not use a Special Cleaner for brakes, carbon tetrachcloride which was packaged as Fire Extinguisher Fluid worked fine.

The Sure Shot 1000 is awesome, I keep mine filled with lacquer thinner for general clean-up jobs. Would love to find a deal on them to get a couple more in different colors for other solvents, though. $45+ a pop is a little tough to swallow to have multiples. The knock-offs at $28 each have spotty quality reviews.

I use one Sureshot, filled with denatured alcohol for general cleaning and degreasing. For heavier viscosity fluids, I prefer the Dutton-Lainson pump oilers. Some models have adjustable spray tips for lighter weight fluids.

Which is why older mechanics, typewriter repairmen, and printers had essential tremors and cirrhosis. Nowadays they get it from drinking too much.

Another user of SureShot sprayers for 20sh years or so. I haven't seen the long-nozzle ones in years, and wasn't sure it was still being made.

It doesn't look like you can buy them with that nozzle on by default, but I've seen the nozzles for sale separately. I think I saw them on zoro tools

I just use old spritzer bottles after they're empty. We always seem to have several containing some kind of cleaner or something. I look for the ones that have a two position nozzle for stream or spray.

You can still get in CA. Just not consumer stores. IE. HD, Lowes, etc.
Grainger carries it. It's the same for the old formula for Krylon. It's now labeled Industrial Krylon.
