Picked this up at a yard sale today for $2 because I thought it looked neat. 21"x8.5"x7" both lids have piano hinges with their own handle. Fairly heavy gage sheet metal. No way to lock it. Came with some random concrete tools inside.

Is this the same as Remline toolboxes? From what little digging I've done, Remline was out of Illinois, not Hamilton Ohio.

I have a similar tool box, it was my Dad's and maybe his Dad's. It has no markings on it at all. Several years ago I found a box like it on the net and it was identified as from Sears. Of course Sears re-badges everything so it's origin and age was unknown. Mine is 21" l, 8.5" w, 7.5" tall with the doors shut. It has a tray inside that rests on a tab in each corner formed from the end of the box.

I live a few miles from Hamilton, Ohio, have for 6 decades. I have never heard of "The Remington Line". I would guess that someone put the sticker on.

Interesting! Thanks captaindiode. I figured it was one in the same.

The sticker looks original, it's pretty evenly placed. Even if it wasn't original to the box, it would still mean there was a Remington Line in Hamilton, just not tool boxes.

I went to the Butler County Historical Society (Hamilton, Ohio) to see if I could find anything on Remington Line or Remington Metal Products. I could not find any mention of the company even in lists of businesses. Maybe RemLine/StackOn might be able to shed some light on the history of the company. RemLine has been in the Chicago area since at least the 1950's and was once owned by AMDC (Advertising Metal Display Company).

Same here mike! All but the 6 decades. I'm about half way through my fourth. That's plenty long enough to remember Big Bobs from Hyde's and Dixie hamburger. Straight down RT4 then turn right at the big chicken! I never got chickens from Danny's or went to the Dixie Electric Co. but I still enjoy a steak sandwich from Richard's or a foot long from Jolly's.

A little late with a response. But I found this thread

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116661

The box in that picture has a close up of the tag.
It states,

Remington Metal Products Co.
Hamilton • • • • • Ohio
Division of Herring Hall Marvin Safe Co.

So you Hamiltonians that don't remember Remline, do you remember Herring Hall Marvin? Edit: looks like they sold in about '59 to Diebold, guessing Remline was in Illinois by then.
