Finally found one after missing out on a set a couple years ago. I'm actually stationed overseas in Korea and had my Dad pick it up for me. He said it's in really nice condition. Paid $130. Love the vintage Remline boxes and handles. Now I just need to find the matching top box.

I paid $85.00 for these this week on Craiglist. I can't wait to clean them up. Plenty of character.

This is my grandpa's old box. Considering how many vice grips are stuffed into the bottom drawer it works very smoothly for a non roller box. I think it moved with him from his house to two different shops he ran and he still comes by my place to use it once in a while today.

Awesome thread...I've always liked Rem Line boxes. They were built in an era when things were meant to last.

My wife bought me the brown double stack machinists unit in the brochure new from the Remline outlet in Yorkville IL back in the late 80's. I's held up great, still looks like new when I clean it.

Did Remline make an off brand called Econo-line? I have a older box in my garage that looks very similar high quality with Econo-line tags.

I bought a Remline combo from Sams Club back in the late 90s. I was surprised to see them being sold there. From what I remember it was a 14 drawer set. All red. I remember calling Remline to get some info on the boxes. They said Sams bought a huge amount of boxes that were originally ordered by a nationwide auto parts company that for some reason didnt take the whole order. It was cheap. I think the top and bottom cost around $400.
It was a really well built set although I outgrew it quickly. I sold it to a guy that I worked with.

I will take some pictures as soon as I can next time I make it to my parents garage I don't have room for that box but its a really nice box. It looks very similar but without any of the accents or little emblems.

I picked this set up in two separate sales, $30 total. The top left drawer is out of the roller box because i'm experimenting with sanding/priming it. The paint is rough but the slides work great.

I walked the lower box from a garage sale half a mile away and the casters worked wonderfully. Any guesses on the ages of the top vs lower units?

Found this thread after looking at a Remline box for sale here locally, so I'll resurrect it.
No pics, but....it was a big red 54" XOL Series with the ball bearing drawers and round-key type locks. The guy said that he bought it new in Florida about seven years ago. He wants $500 and it's in good shape, save for some paint fade. Can anybody shed some light on where this box is made, what parts are available, and how they hold up? I looked at the Stack-on site, but this series is apparently discontinued.

This thread is too short. Thought there would be more on here by now.

Just got it yesterday. Traded a small set of boxes I got for $60.

Goes ok with my Cman box. Both made by the same manufacturer at about the same time. Cman is late 50s, I think. RemLine is mid 60s. Says 65 behind the badge.

I may repaint both to match, but not any time soon.

I picked this box up cheap at an estate sale. I left the bottom because it was rough, but I may go back in a couple days and try to save it if the price is right.

These are posted in the vintage toolbox section already but: M.Wards PowrKraft CL score $60, and believe it or not the little Rem-Line 7drawer machinist box was on the side of the road - Free.

Another bump. I just picked one up for $30.

Any idea how to age one? It still has the serial # legible on the nameplate.

My tool box at work. Anyone know its age? It used to have a trapazoidal powr kraft badge. Of course i lost it when i painted it 15 years ago. I got it from my uncle when i worked at a collision shop. It was against the wall in his jam packed garage. I got it for $40. Painted it because it was pretty bad. And I've been using it ever since. Now I work as a dismantler in a junkyar... oh whoops... automotive recycling center. In a shop with three red hf boxes, mine stands out. And i'm proud its made in USA.

That looks to be in real good condition, great deal. Nice that the top has 3 shallow vs the 1 deep on the far right.

Not branded Remline, but all the details sure look the same to me.
It won't be long before I'm kicking myself for not buying the pristine Remline top box I saw a few weeks ago for $50...

Remline for Wards. How many of us started out with this type set up? I know I did. I worked at Penneys and bought the 3 drawer Wards rollaway from a co-worker, and bought a new 6 drawer from Penneys. I think Penneys may have had Huot at the time (1968).

heres one a few of you seen me post before i did sell this a guy offered me a price i could not refuse hopefully i can find another one down the road in the near future in really nice shape, this one did have a dent in the rear corner where the guy backed into it in his garage, i do remember behind the remline badge on the back side of the drawers the top box was dated 1966 and the bottom 1967, i do believe the first pic was in the guys garage before i picked it up

I know this thread has been dormant for a while, but I just added a couple of boxes to my collection that fit in here.
Picked up both boxes off CL for $200, not a screaming deal, but I think I did ok.
The machinists box has the most issues as it is missing the drop down front and the original hasp/lock has been replaced with a cheap hardware store clasp. If I can find replacements, this will be a pretty decent secondary box for my machinist tools.
The roll around just needs paint in a few places (the top of the box and the bottom stringer of the bottom section have been painted black, and there is good bit of paint missing from around the badge) and a good cleaning and lube (the casters are noisy enough to warrant ear protection) and it will get the matching top box you can see behind it in a couple of the pics.
I am torn between just cleaning the roller and maybe shooting some clear, or doing a complete repaint. The missing paint around the badge and the repainted sections are whats causing my consternation, a little less paint missing and I would just clear it and leave the patina. However, I look at it and it seems well past the patina stage. And I know that it will bug me, maybe not right away, but very soon. So I guess I just answered that question.
More pics of the machinist box in the next post.

And as promised, more pics of the machinists chest. Although I'm not sure if it is a Remline or not.

Thanks Larry!
Went out to the shop on Sunday and put the top box on to get some pics.
That top box was given to me by my BiL, his dad had purchased sometime in the 70's and used it in his shoemaking business, which my BiL still carries on. It was in almost pristine condition, save for the back right corner of the bottom drawer where the solder flux that was stored there had leaked. Quick trip to see my little brother and he matched the paint and got it shot, can't see any trace of the earlier damage.
On to the pics!

Happy Friday!

Just picked up with little vintage Rem Line off Craigslist! Sorry for the one photo, I'll take more when I get it unloaded tonight. Curious to find the age, I've been told to look in the drawer behind the logo. All the drawers and locks work as they should. I'm not sure if its going to be full resto or just a clean, grease, and use (probably the latter)

Oh...and paid $35!

Okay, so here is a better picture. Got the box all apart now and it's in pretty good shape...minimal rust and the friction slides are in good shape. I think this will just be a clean, grease, and use for a while project. I don't think I need to do a full restore just yet...

They are a little newer than many posted here, but here's my Remline Pro Series 11010 top box and 90007 bottom box. These were my first roller set. Both are friction slide. They are over-full, but I have another box that needs cleaned up to put the overflow in.

I bought them NIB at an auction maybe 20-25 years ago for $180. Another bidder and I bid the set to over $200, then the auctioneer said I have another, and if you both take one the price will be $180. Of course we both took one.

I found magnetic labels at Eastwood back in the day and marked all the drawers. I have some new SK magnetic labels that I have not installed yet.

Finished up restoring my Rem Line I inherited from my great uncle. 1967 top box and a 1966 bottom. I did not want to lose the patina, so just a good cleaning and slide lube. I also added 4 new locking swivel casters. Lastly new drawer liners and mat using rubber floor runner material.

I really like the character of the old box. For now it's just overflow from my main box and cart.

Just identified by the fine folks here on GJ. Remline box I got off CL for $30. It's a little rough, but will be back in service before long!
