Repirator advice

Going to grind my floor and put on Nohrs polyspartic.

Do i need a respirator for either or both?

Can i wear a just a mask for grinding? Dont want all that junk in my lungs.

A fee years bad i inhaled a bunch of spray paint on a project and my lungs took a few months to recover.

Do you have a mask now that you use for painting? If so, since there will be particulates in the air when you prep the floor, why not just wear it?

Get what 38 dodge says, and don't cheap out and use the white paper masks as they just will not seal to the face like the 3M will. Grinding concrete, even with a shop vac hooked up, will be heavy in dust . Dust that will not come back out of your wet lung air sacs. ...

Yes, they are a more expensive mask, but it has replaceable cartridges and can be used for many years for painting or high dust environments. You only have two lungs and having a damaged one is no fun. I know, I had a major PE in 2013 in my right side lung due to a large blood clot . . JMO

Ok ..just bought one of those. Does it just do dust or will it block harmful fumes as well?

A P100, or N100 or N95 mask will oniy stop particulates. That includes dust, and to a lesser extent mist. Vapors are stopped by a mask with an organic vapor cartridge (visibly much bigger and contains activated carbon).

Coating: NIOSH RESPIRATOR, same as you would use for spray painting a car.
Use in conjunction with ventilation (open door/windows).

Grinding concrete: A good 3m dust mask

I use this one for sanding drywall, insulation, and welding. It will not fog up your glasses and force you to use once or the other.

I wear a North half mask with a backpack adapter. Just got new filters that will handle organic vapors, acids, fertilizers, etc, and have the P100 filter for particulates. The backpack puts the filters over my shoulders so I can use them with my welding mask or face shield.

I like that the North system is very flexible, I can remove the backpack adapter and just use dust filters if I want to do a lot of woodworking and don't want the extra bulk. I think it can also be upgraded to a contained system if I ever needed that.

Don't skimp on safety equipment.

I prefer North brand respirators as well... lightweight and very comfortable. I believe they have a cartridge that will handle both gas/vapors as well as particulates.
