Repurposing old pots and pans.

I almost never throw anything away so I have a fair selection of old pots and pans.

Aside from dog dishes, what do people use them for?

I have an old Wok I use to soak/clean off parts in. And stir fry brake parts don't taste as bad as they might sound - with lots of soy sauce.

I use old baking sheets for torch guards for soldering. Old stock pots for some plumbing repairs, or to catch automotive fluids

Stainless steel mixing bowl is used to soak transmission parts in ATF.. Cookie sheets are used to keep parts in order. Kitchen strainer is used in parts washer when cleaning small parts. Pots or roaster are used with oil for heating parts.

I've got a few pots retired from the kitchen to use as catch pans.
Old non-stick cookie sheets are used for mixing epoxy on.

I use them for storing larger pieces of hardware, brackets etc. As noted they're also good for soaking things of the appropriate size for cleaning or lubricating etc.

I donate them, but the pots and pans I have now will be with me till I'm dead. I was like a lot of people who bought the low to medium priced stuff and replaced it when it warped, handles broke/cracked, etc. I bought some good stuff about 8 years ago per the recommendation of a good cook, and wow what a difference. The heat distribution and ability to control it is WAY better. Much like our tools, spend the $300 to $600 and be done forever.

I collect them then take a good sized load to scrap for money. Then that money is put in my tool fund I get them all the time on my trash route last load had about 50 pans in it.

Put it on low and went outside. What a f-ing stench that was. Unhappy wife too, go figure.

I have found that nothing cleans lawnmower wheels like dishwasher. They come out like brand new if you spray them with Simple Green or "purple stuff" and take a brush to the tires first to get the mold off.
I just dump about a half a cup of Trisodium Phosphate and some bleach into the dishwasher and run it through a cycle empty when I'm done.
No problem!

I use muffin tins for holding small parts on big projects. Pie pans get used to catch oil drips when changing seals, etc.

with some old cookware, it's best to know what you've got before repurposing it to tasks in the garden. desirable examples of certain brand OldSchool cast iron pots and such (Griswold/Wagner/others) have collectible value, and examples of pieces that are not so difficult to find can have collectible value as well. some variants have value where 'the sky's the limit' while with others the limit is the sky. a good online reference site is the Wagner & Griswold Society (WAGS) which is an online community of cast iron and aluminum cookware collectors that includes an active forum.
