A couple of weeks back I found a posting that detailed how to install a retractable air hose reel on your garage ceiling.

I can't seem to find it. Can some one tell me the best way to install it?

It seems heavy and I want to make sure that it dosen't fall down on my truck.

thanks again for all of the help,

I have not seen this thread, but the easiest way would be to get two u-bolts that span the distance of the mounting holes on the hose reel.
Get a templet from the mounting pad on the hose reel and mark you holes on the ceiling after you find the center of the truss stud. The u-bolts also need to be long enough to stradle the lower section of the trusses and also penetrate the sheetrock. tack down the u-bolts to the trusses with some large staples to keep them from moving on you when you secure the hose reel from below. Use lock nuts also.

I don't like any design that uses lag bolts up into a joist or sandwich of wood studs/plywood/etc. If the wood rots or even goes through humidity change cycles, the lags could loosen and you'd never know it until the reel comes down on your head.

The U-bolt over the joist sounds much more "right way" to me. When I hung my heater, I laid a 2x6 flat across the top of several joists and bolted down through it to the heater. For my reel, I did the same thing but also nailed in a brace between the studs and against the drywall to stabilize it since my joists are 2x8. I had to use 10 inch bolts i think.
