Collin from KC Tool sent me a few things to test out. Even better, I'm going to give them away during the month of February!

Currently, I'm looking at these Felo screwdrivers. The set number is 53693.

I figured I would review objectively and break the overall review down into something structured.

Overall Fit / Finish - Overall the construction and quality is very high, and for the price point, it should be. I highly doubt that anyone would be disappointed with these. The tips are all highly precise. The shafts are coated smoothly and don't show signs of wear. The handles are molded nicely with no flash or rough edges. These overall, are what I would expect from a premium German tool. Most importantly, I had no issues with the tips not fitting a fastener correctly. Even the screws used on cheap Chinese kids toys were no problem for these.

Value - Current price is about $40 which is a good jump from the $15 Craftsman set many of us have or at least started with. However, I believe that the value for this set comes from it's quality, comfort, and design.

Innovation / Beneficial Characteristics - The key selling point to the Felo Ergonic series is that the handle is made from materials that allow the user's hand to easily and comfortably hold. It's soft grip conforms to your individual grip to allow more torque and less fatigue. In my opinion, the larger sizes feel great but the smaller sizes I can't tell too much on. Possibly because I'm not using them in a high torque situation. The screwdrivers feature a hole through the handle that would allow another driver to be used for further twisting capabilities, or hanging on a peg. Anti-roll handle worked great as well!

Durability / Warranty - I haven't used these particular screwdrivers for years so I can't comment on long term use. However, I do have other Felo drivers that are perfectly useable and haven't shown terrible signs of use other than the graphics wearing off. My only concern is that the slotted screwdrivers being used as a prybar (don't kid yourself, we all do it) might bend the shaft. The manufacturer warranty is 15 years if needed, so if something went wrong, they take care of it.

I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on Felo's Ergonic series of drivers! As I do more testing and comparisons, I am going to add anything I come across.

I have some felo’s. The only thing I don’t like is that the lettering wears off easy. But feels great in the hand.

I really like mine, I just wish the squishy was 360 degrees all around, not isolated to the axis 90 degrees to the through-hole. I would give up the rigidity and through hole provided by the plastic in exchange for 360 degrees of squishy.

I’d also trade a set of screwdrivers for the writing ability to better explain what i’m talking about.......

Who knows?
I have the 6 piece set that includes an additional flathead driver. I’ve been well pleased with them so far. They fit great in the hand.

I wonder if the hex moulded into the handle would be suitable for using a ratcheting wrench to increase torque or whether it would deform being plastic. Nice screwdrivers for sure.

Wish someone would send me screwdrivers to test out...I still have more posts yet to work on. Anyhow I hope an old post of mine is helpful to you tonight:

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=411896

You and I had similar feelings on the grips. Good design, but, I could definitely see where someone would have trouble especially where their index finger is. Mainly because the screwdrivers diameter at that point is the smallest.

Agreed, there is a small section where the inner plastic skeleton comes the whole way to the surface of the handle. I believe it's needed, but is slightly noticeable.

My other thoughts were to compare this particular set to the wooden handle Felo's (#22155).

They come in at about $30 and seem to be different in both the handle and the shaft.

The entire driver is longer, larger diameter, and has built in hex portion for added torque. They claim you have use a hammer to chisel, but I have yet to run into a situation that called for that.

In the pictures you can see the differences. The main one being that the wood handle is WITHOUT A DOUBT going to be terrible if your hands are covered in oil/grease. For a mechanic who was looking for a set, I would recommend the Ergonic style soft handles for this exact reason.

I stopped in at KC Tool a few weeks ago to check out the handles on Wera, Felo and Whia screwdrivers. The guy handed me the Felo 53711 Magnetic Ergonic 1/4" x 100mm Bit Holder Screwdriver and it just fit my hand and I liked how it felt in my hand better than the others, I left with it.

These would make a great addition and complement to my Bit driver, how are you going to be giving them away? :):bounce:

Maybe about a week from now there will be a thread. All you'll have to do is say you're interested and you're in!

The #53711 is fantastic. Perfect size handle and has great bit retention. My only wish is that it was made into a ratcheting version but remained the same size.

I had never heard of Felo until stumbling across their name on this forum.

Ordered one set from Amazon and was blown away.

I've since grown a collection of Felo's and find any excuse I can to use them. Love em'

I have a set of Felo Ergonics and they seem to do much better than the typical cheap screwdriver. Better tip fit and grippier handles. I'm sure other comparable brands are similar (Wera, etc.).

Yep, Felo makes good stuff.

There are several brands that make outstanding screwdrivers, and Felo's one of them... Basically, there's a lot of choice, so pick the style, handle, and features you like.

I only have a couple of random Felos -- does anyone know how that soft rubbery/plasticish stuff holds up to gasoline, brake cleaner, etc.? Sure, solvents are tool abuse, but sometimes it's unavoidable out here in the real world.

i have the had the 6 piece set of ergonic drivers with the hex bolsters for years, great drivers. i also recently picked up the woddy set to complement them.

fleet farm has a full range of felo drivers in sets and singles at good prices. my woody set was under 20 bucks on sale and i believe the 6 piece was not much more.

as a side note i have a high vis green set of ergonic drivers years ago i have never used.

here is another option, the 200 series don't know if they are still available. similar to the wood handle in size but look more like the ergonic and have a solid rubber handle vs. the softer handle on the ergonic.

the last pic is a shot of my screwdriver drawer and the old school facom made sk hard handles.

oops, added the pics to my previous post on accident.....oh well.

In my felo set it just deforms when I try to twist it.

I LOVE Felo screwdrivers. Most comfortable grips I've felt by a long shot.

The Ergonics are my favorite, but the black and red "2 component handles" feel great as well. The wood handle ones are awesome as well, and surprisingly cheap for what they are.
